It is used in the management of severe spasticities such as spasticity of spinal cord origin and spasticity of cerebral origin.
Liofen 500mcg Injection works on the centres of the spinal cord and brain, thereby helping in maintaining muscle strength and relieving muscle spasms or stiffness.
Dry mouth could be a side effect of Liofen 500mcg Injection. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help in stimulating saliva and thereby prevent drying of the mouth.
Liofen 500mcg Injection should not be stopped abruptly. Abrupt discontinuation of Liofen 500mcg Injection may cause altered mental status, high fever, muscle rigidity, and exaggerated rebound spasticity. In rare cases, it might even lead to multiple organ-system failures, rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of muscle tissue that releases a damaging protein into the blood) and death.
