About LORAM TABLET

LORAM TABLET is an oral prescription medicine used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Keeping your blood pressure within a healthy range helps reduce the workload on your heart and blood vessels and lowers the risk of serious complications such as heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage. This combination is used only in selected patients under close medical supervision and is not a first-line treatment for routine high blood pressure. Current treatment guidelines generally discourage combining an ACE inhibitor with an ARB because it may increase the risk of kidney problems, high potassium levels, and low blood pressure without providing additional benefit for most patients.

For the best results, take LORAM TABLET exactly as prescribed by your doctor and at the same time every day. You can take LORAM TABLET with or without food, preferably with a full glass of water. Following a heart-healthy lifestyle, including reducing salt intake, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking, can help improve blood pressure control and support long-term heart health.

Most people tolerate LORAM TABLET well when it is used under proper medical supervision. Some people may experience mild side effects such as dizziness, tiredness, headache, or a dry cough. These symptoms are often temporary as your body adjusts to treatment. However, seek emergency medical care immediately if you develop swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, severe difficulty breathing, or severe abdominal pain. If you notice any unusual or persistent symptoms, inform your doctor promptly.

Before starting LORAM TABLET, tell your doctor about your complete medical history, including any kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, high potassium levels, or previous allergic reactions to blood pressure medicines. Do not take LORAM TABLET if you are pregnant, have previously experienced angioedema (swelling of the face or throat) after taking an ACE inhibitor, have severe narrowing of the arteries supplying both kidneys (bilateral renal artery stenosis), or unless specifically advised by your doctor if you have severe kidney disease. Your doctor may recommend regular blood tests to monitor your kidney function and potassium levels throughout treatment.

LORAM TABLET can interact with alcohol and several other medicines, increasing the risk of low blood pressure, kidney problems, or high potassium levels. Always inform your doctor about every medicine, supplement, or herbal product you use before starting treatment or undergoing any medical or dental procedure. If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding, or an older adult, discuss the benefits and risks with your doctor before using LORAM TABLET.

FAQs

LORAM TABLET is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
LORAM TABLET contains Ramipril and Losartan. Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and works by lowering the body’s production of substances that could narrow the blood vessels and increase blood pressure. Losartan is an angiotensin-II receptor blocker (ARB) which narrows the blood vessels increasing the blood pressure, therefore blocking angiotensin can result in widening of the narrowed blood vessels. Together, LORAM TABLET can effectively reduce blood pressure and prevent complications associated with it.
Please inform your doctor before surgery if you are taking LORAM TABLET as it needs to be stopped. LORAM TABLET might lower the blood pressure further if taken along with general anesthesia.
LORAM TABLET may cause side-effects such as headache, dizziness, hypotension (abnormally low blood pressure), especially when you stand or sit up quickly, dry cough, weakness, stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, feeling or being sick, skin rash, chest pain, muscle cramps, hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels in the blood) and hypoglycemia (decreased glucose levels in the blood). If any of these side-effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.
LORAM TABLET is probably safe for diabetic patients if it is prescribed by a doctor. LORAM TABLET protects the kidney and slows down the decrease of kidney function in hypertensive (high blood pressure) and type 2 diabetic patients.
No. LORAM TABLET should not be used during pregnancy because it may seriously harm the unborn baby. If you think you are pregnant while taking LORAM TABLET, contact your doctor immediately. Do not stop taking LORAM TABLET on your own without medical advice, as your doctor will switch you to a safer treatment.
LORAM TABLET starts working within a few hours after the first dose, but it may take several weeks of regular use to achieve its full blood-pressure-lowering effect. Continue taking it exactly as prescribed, even if you feel well.
The dry cough is usually caused by ramipril, the ACE inhibitor component of LORAM TABLET. Losartan is much less likely to cause this side effect. If the cough becomes troublesome or affects your daily activities, your doctor may review your treatment and decide whether switching to a different medicine, such as an ARB alone, is more appropriate for you.
No. High blood pressure usually requires long-term treatment, even when your blood pressure readings become normal. Stopping your medicine without medical advice may cause your blood pressure to rise again and increase your risk of serious complications.
It is best to limit or avoid alcohol while taking LORAM TABLET. Alcohol can increase dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting by lowering your blood pressure further.
Yes. LORAM TABLET can affect kidney function, especially in people with existing kidney disease, dehydration, or certain other medical conditions. Your doctor will usually perform regular blood tests to monitor your kidney function and potassium levels during treatment.
Avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes and consult your doctor before taking potassium supplements or consuming large amounts of potassium-rich foods, as LORAM TABLET can increase potassium levels in your blood.
Sit or lie down immediately until the dizziness improves. Stand up slowly from sitting or lying positions, drink enough fluids unless your doctor has advised otherwise, and inform your doctor if the dizziness is severe, persistent, or accompanied by fainting.
