About Mucolite Tablet

Mucolite Tablet is primarily used to treat cough. It also treats acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases characterized by excess mucus. Coughing is the body’s way of clearing irritants (such as allergens, mucus, or smoke) from the airways.

Mucolite Tablet contains Ambroxol, which works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose.

Mucolite Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, taste change, and numbness in the mouth, tongue and throat. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Mucolite Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using Mucolite Tablet . If you have had kidney or liver problems, stomach ulcers, asthma, or a cough for a long time, please inform your doctor before taking Mucolite Tablet .

How Mucolite Tablet Works

Mucolite Tablet contains Ambroxol hydrochloride, which works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. Mucolite Tablet breaks down the acid mucopolysaccharide fibres, making the mucous (sputum) thinner and less dense/viscous, and helps remove sputum more efficiently through coughing. What if I have taken an overdose of Mucolite Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Mucolite Tablet as it may cause an overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Talk to your doctor before taking Mucolite Tablet if you have had a cough for a long time, have asthma or suffer from serious asthma attacks, have liver or kidney problems, or have peptic or duodenal ulcers.
  • There have been reports of severe skin allergic reactions with Mucolite Tablet , so if you develop a skin rash, stop using Mucolite Tablet immediately and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you are allergic to some sugars, please inform your doctor as Mucolite Tablet may contain sorbitol.
  • You are recommended not to take Mucolite Tablet for more than 10 days without your doctor’s advice.

Mucolite Tablet is used to treat cough associated with excess mucus. It is used in conditions such as acute and recurrent bronchitis (airway infection), laryngitis (voice box infection), tracheitis (windpipe infection), and chronic diseases such as chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Mucolite Tablet breaks down the acid mucopolysaccharide fibres and makes the mucous (sputum) thinner and less dense/viscous, removing sputum efficiently by coughing.

You are recommended to take Mucolite Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. However, if the symptoms worsen or persist after 5 days (3 days in children) of using Mucolite Tablet , please consult your doctor.

Mucolite Tablet may cause skin reactions in some people. It is not necessary for everyone taking Mucolite Tablet to have skin reactions. However, if you notice a skin rash including lesions of the nose, throat, mouth, genitals or eyes, stop taking Mucolite Tablet and consult a doctor immediately.

Taking Mucolite Tablet with antibiotics such as erythromycin, amoxicillin, doxycycline, and cefuroxime may increase the concentration of antibiotics in the mucus lining the airways. Therefore, you are recommended to consult a doctor before using Mucolite Tablet with antibiotics or any other medicines.

You are not advised to stop taking Mucolite Tablet without consulting your doctor, as it may worsen your cough or lead to recurring symptoms. Therefore, take Mucolite Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, and if you experience any difficulty while taking Mucolite Tablet , please consult your doctor.
