Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections. Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any eye part, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea.
Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm contains tobramycin, an antibiotic that works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. Thus Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm treats bacterial eye infections.
Use Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm are eye irritation, feeling of having something in the eye, swollen/itchy eyelids, eye redness, increased tearing and inflammation of the cornea (clear front portion of your eye). Most of these side effects fade away gradually over time without the need for medical intervention. However, consult your doctor if you experience these side effects frequently.
Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm is for ophthalmic (eye) use only; do not inject or swallow. Do not use Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm if you are allergic to tobramycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any components in Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, notify your doctor. Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm may temporarily blur your vision; therefore, wait until your vision is back to normal before using any machinery or driving.
Bacterial eye infections
Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye(s). Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm contains tobramycin which works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. Thus Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm effectively treats bacterial eye infections.
Do not use if you are allergic to tobramycin, another aminoglycoside antibiotic, or any of the components of Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor. You may have temporary blurred vision after using Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm; consequently, wait until your vision returns to normal before driving or operating any machinery. Before using Nebracin Eye/Skin Ointment 5 gm, notify your doctor if you have vision problems, severe eye pain, glaucoma (high blood pressure in the eye), eye damage, or eye surgery.
