About Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection

Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection is a prescription injectable medication used to manage severe watery diarrhoea and sudden flushing associated with certain types of cancerous tumours, such as carcinoid tumours. It is also prescribed to reduce the levels of growth hormone in people with acromegaly, a condition where the body produces too much growth hormone. By mimicking a natural hormone in your body, it helps bring these symptoms under control.

To get the most benefit, you must use Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection consistently and exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is given as an injection, and injecting it between meals or at bedtime can help reduce common stomach-related side effects. Making simple changes, such as eating smaller, more frequent meals and staying well-hydrated, can also support your treatment and ease digestive symptoms.

While using Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection, you may experience mild side effects like pain at the injection site, nausea, or stomach gas. However, you should contact your doctor immediately if you notice signs of gallstones, such as sudden and severe pain in your upper right stomach, or if you experience a very slow heart rate (an unusually slow heartbeat).

Before starting this medication, tell your doctor if you have a history of gallbladder disease, kidney problems, liver damage, or diabetes. Do not take this if you have a known allergy to this medicine or any of its inactive ingredients.

This medicine can interact with other drugs like insulin or beta-blockers, which may require your doctor to adjust your doses to prevent abnormal blood sugar or heart rate levels. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are an older adult, talk to your doctor or pharmacist to ensure this treatment is safe for your specific situation.

Side effects of Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection

Anemia

Include iron-rich foods like dark leafy vegetables, lean red meat, legumes and fish in your diet.
Consume vitamin C-rich foods as they aid iron absorption.
Limit tea, cocoa, and coffee as these can slow iron absorption.
Exercise regularly; however, do not overdo it.

Loose And Watery Stools

Here are the precise steps to cope with diarrhoea caused by medication usage:

Inform Your Doctor: Notify your doctor immediately about your diarrhoea symptoms. This allows them to adjust your medication or provide guidance on managing side effects.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.
Avoid Trigger Foods: Steer clear of foods that can worsen diarrhoea, such as spicy, fatty, or greasy foods, high-fibre foods, and dairy products (especially if you're lactose intolerant).
Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.

Gallstones

Your doctor may recommend medications to dissolve the small gallstones (like ursodiol) or use shock waves to break up the stones.
Try to eat regular meals because skipping meals can increase the risk of gallstones by making your gallbladder work less efficiently.
Eat breakfast soon after you wake up, as cholesterol in bile is highest in the morning.
If you are overweight, losing weight gradually can help lower the chance of developing gallstones.
Include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet.
Base your meals around starchy foods like bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes, especially whole grain or high-fibre varieties.

Stomach Pain

Drink water or other clear fluids.
To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.
Include bland foods like rice, toast, crackers, and rice in your diet.
Avoid lying down immediately after eating as it may cause indigestion or heartburn.
Avoid acidic and spicy food as it may cause indigestion.

Gas Or Fart

Here are the steps to manage Gastrointestinal Air and Swelling (GAS) caused by medication:

Tell your doctor about your GAS symptoms. They may change your medication regimen or prescribe additional drugs to help you manage them.
To manage GAS symptoms, eat a balanced diet of fibre, vegetables, and fruits.
Drink enough water throughout the day to avoid constipation and treat GAS symptoms.
Regular exercise like yoga and walking may help stimulate digestion and alleviate GAS symptoms.
Take probiotics only if your doctor advises, as they may help alleviate GAS symptoms by promoting gut health.
Take medication for GAS symptoms only if your doctor advises, as certain medications can interact with your existing prescriptions or worsen symptoms.
If symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or bleeding, seek immediate medical attention.

Back Pain

Managing back pain as a side effect of medication requires a combination of self-care techniques, lifestyle modifications, and medical interventions. Here are the steps:

Talk to your doctor about your back pain and potential medication substitutes or dose changes.
Try yoga or Pilates and other mild stretching exercises to increase flexibility and strengthen your back muscles.
To lessen the tension on your back, sit and stand upright and maintain proper posture.
To alleviate discomfort and minimize inflammation, apply heat or cold packs to the afflicted area.
Under your doctor's supervision, think about taking over-the-counter painkillers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
Make ergonomic adjustments to your workspace and daily activities to reduce strain on your back.
To handle tension that could make back pain worse, try stress-reduction methods like deep breathing or meditation.
Use pillows and a supportive mattress to keep your spine in the right posture as you sleep.
Back discomfort can worsen by bending, twisting, and heavy lifting.
Speak with a physical therapist to create a customized training regimen to increase back strength and flexibility.

Fatigue

Rest well; get enough sleep.
Eat a balanced diet and drink enough water.
Manage stress with yoga and meditation.
Limit alcohol and caffeine.
Physical activities like walking or jogging might help boost energy and make you feel less tired.

How Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection Works

Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection works by mimicking the actions of somatostatin, a hormone that naturally occurs in your body. Somatostatin acts as a chemical brake, slowing down the release of several other hormones and digestive juices. When you inject Netocta LAR 30 mg Injection, it binds to specific receptors in your body to block the abnormal, excessive release of growth hormone and thyroid-stimulating hormone. In the digestive tract, it slows down gut movement, reduces blood flow to the organs, and reduces the amount of water and salts released into the gut. This dual action effectively stops severe diarrhoea and shrinks the hormone levels responsible for abnormal tissue growth.
