Norfagyl Plus Suspension is used to treat diarrhoea caused by infections in adults and children. It contains Ofloxacin (a quinolone antibiotic), Metronidazole (a nitroimidazole), and Lactobacillus (a probiotic), which belong to the class of antidiarrheals. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting the repair of the bacterial cell wall, a protective covering, and causing damage to it. Metronidazole damages the DNA and eventually kills the anaerobic bacteria that cause infections. Lactobacillus restores good bacteria in the gut, which is destroyed by antibiotics. This medicine may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, dizziness, and headache.

About Norfagyl Plus Suspension
Norfagyl Plus Suspension belongs to the class of medicines called ‘antidiarrheal’ used to treat diarrhea caused by infections in adults and children. Diarrhea is a condition in which bowel movements are too frequent, leading to loose and watery stools. In general, digestive tract infection is the common cause of diarrhea. Different types of bacteria can cause infection.
Norfagyl Plus Suspension is a combination medicine containing Ofloxacin, Metronidazole, and Lactic acid bacillus. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting the repair of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) and causing damage to it. Metronidazole damages the DNA and eventually kills anaerobic bacteria responsible for causing infections. Lactic acid bacillus restores good bacteria in the gut, which antibiotics destroy. Together, Norfagyl Plus Suspension helps in treating bacterial infections.
You should take this medicine exactly as the doctor prescribes it. The common side effects of Norfagyl Plus Suspension are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, dizziness, headache, and photosensitivity (skin sensitivity to the sun). These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if any of these side effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.
It is recommended not to take Norfagyl Plus Suspension if you are allergic to its contents. Do not discontinue or abruptly stop the medication, as it may lead to antibiotic resistance, a condition in which bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. It is safe for use in children and adolescents under 18 years if recommended by the physician.
