Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml belongs to a class of medications called antibiotics used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, genital tract, chest, lungs, skin, and soft tissue. Bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml does not work against infections caused by a virus.
Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml contains Ofloxacin that works by interfering with bacterial enzyme, DNA gyrase involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thus, Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml kills bacteria and clears the infection.
Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. In some cases, you may experience redness, swelling or pain at the injection site, headache, nausea, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Ofloxacin or other antibiotics or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, please inform your doctor before taking Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml. Avoid taking Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml and consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding as Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml may be excreted in human milk and cause adverse effects in the baby. Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml is not recommended for children below 18 years as the safety and effectiveness were not established. Drive only if you are alert as Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or changes in vision. Avoid alcohol consumption with Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml as it may cause sleepiness or dizziness.
Bacterial infections
Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml contains Ofloxacin, a broad spectrum antibiotic that acts against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml is used in the treatment of several bacterial infections. It interferes with the bacterial enzyme involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thus, Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml kills bacteria and clears the infection.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml may interact with an anticancer drug (methotrexate), antiarrhythmics (hydroquinone, disopyramide, quinidine, sotalol, amiodarone, ibutilide, dofetilide, digoxin, procainamide), some antimicrobials, tricyclic antidepressants, some antipsychotics, blood thinner (warfarin), water pills (furosemide), anesthetics, medicines used to lower blood pressure, antidiabetic drug (glibenclamide), gout medicine (probenecid), stomach acid reducer (cimetidine), other antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin, azithromycin), corticosteroids, antidepressants (imipramine, amitriptyline, clomipramine), anti-asthma drug(theophylline) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (fenbufen, indomethacin, diclofenac, ibuprofen).

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have tendinitis (swelling of tendons), epilepsy (fits), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, porphyria (illness affecting metabolism), low levels of magnesium or potassium in the blood, peripheral neuropathy (nerve problem), myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), kidney, liver or heart problems and if you have or ever had mental health problems, inform your doctor before taking Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml.
Avoid alcohol consumption with Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml as it may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Please consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml.
Please consult a doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml is given to pregnant women only if doctor thinks benefits outweigh risks.
Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml may be excreted in human milk. Therefore, Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers. Please consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding.
Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml may cause dizziness, drowsiness or changes in vision. Therefore, drive only if you are alert after taking Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml.
Take Ofloxacin Injection 100 ml with caution, especially if you have a history of Liver diseases/conditions. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor as required.
