Optive Eye Drops is primarily used to treat dry eyes. Dry eye(s) is a condition in which the eye fails to make enough tears to coat it, which exposes the cornea and conjunctiva (outer coverings of the eye) to evaporation and subsequent damage.

Optive Eye Drops contains Carboxymethylcellulose, which works similarly to natural tears and provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to the eye's dryness.

The most common side effects of Optive Eye Drops are irritation, pain, and blurred vision. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Tired, strained eyes for many weeks can be caused by dry eyes, long screen time, poor blinking habits, lack of sleep, stress, eye muscle fatigue, or irritation from air conditioning and dust. Even when an eye checkup is normal, the surface of the eyes may still remain dry or sensitive, especially after continuous mobile or computer use. Optive and GenTeal Gel may help with dryness, but improvement can sometimes take time if the main trigger is ongoing eye strain or screen exposure. Reducing screen time, taking frequent eye breaks, blinking more often, sleeping properly, and using warm compresses over closed eyes may improve comfort gradually. Keeping room humidity balanced and avoiding direct fan or AC air toward the eyes may also help reduce irritation. An eye specialist may sometimes check for hidden dry eye, allergy, or focusing problems if symptoms continue. Inform your doctor if you develop redness, severe pain, light sensitivity, double vision, or worsening blurred vision.
