About POSATRAL 100 TABLETS

POSATRAL 100 TABLETS is an antifungal medicine used to prevent and treat certain fungal infections. It is often prescribed to people with weakened immune systems who are at a higher risk of developing invasive fungal infections. Posaconazole works by stopping fungi from growing and spreading, helping the body control the infection.

Take POSATRAL 100 TABLETS exactly as prescribed and at the same time each day. Food instructions may vary depending on the formulation, so follow the directions provided with your medicine. POSATRAL 100 TABLETS is used to treat fungal infections and prophylaxis of invasive Aspergillus and Candida infections in severely immunocompromised patients.
POSATRAL 100 TABLETS contains a medicine called posaconazole. It is a triazole antifungal agent and exerts its antifungal activity through the blockage of certain enzymes (P-450 dependent enzyme, sterol 14α-demethylase). This leads to inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane, and the accumulation of methylated sterol precursors. This results in inhibiting fungal cell growth and, ultimately, cell death. Thus, it treats infections.
POSATRAL 100 TABLETS is not recommended for coadministration with anticoagulants, So if you are under anticoagulant therapy, inform your doctor before prescribing POSATRAL 100 TABLETS .
If you are allergic to posaconazole or similar antifungals such as fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, or voriconazole, you should not use it. When combined with certain medications, posaconazole can have unfavourable or dangerous side effects.
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, fever, vomiting, headache, coughing and low potassium levels in the blood, although not everybody gets them.
