About Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's

Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's is an antifungal medicine used to prevent and treat certain fungal infections. It is often prescribed to people with weakened immune systems who are at a higher risk of developing invasive fungal infections. Posaconazole works by stopping fungi from growing and spreading, helping the body control the infection.

Take Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's exactly as prescribed and at the same time each day. Food instructions may vary depending on the formulation, so follow the directions provided with your medicine. Swallow the medicine as directed and complete the full course, even if you start to feel better. Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor, as the infection may return or become more difficult to treat.

Some people may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, or headache. These side effects are usually mild. Contact your doctor if they become severe, persistent, or difficult to manage. Consult your doctor right away if you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, a fast or irregular heartbeat, or signs of a severe allergic reaction.

Before starting Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney problems, heart failure, heart rhythm problems, or low levels of potassium, magnesium, or calcium in your blood. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to posaconazole or any of its ingredients. Some medicines must not be taken with posaconazole, including ergot medicines, sirolimus, certain cholesterol-lowering medicines, and some medicines that can cause dangerous changes in heart rhythm. Give your doctor a complete list of all medicines and supplements you take.

Your doctor may perform blood tests during treatment to monitor your liver function and, when needed, check the amount of posaconazole in your blood. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, an older adult, or considering this medicine for a child, consult your doctor before use. Your doctor will consider factors such as age, weight, kidney and liver function, other medicines, and individual treatment needs before recommending the most appropriate dose and formulation.

How Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's Works

Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's contains posaconazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called azole antifungals. Posaconazole works by blocking the production of ergosterol, a substance that fungi need to build and maintain their protective outer membrane. Without enough ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes weak and damaged. This stops the fungus from growing and helps control the spread of the infection.

FAQs

Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's is used to treat fungal infections and prophylaxis of invasive Aspergillus and Candida infections in severely immunocompromised patients.
Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's contains a medicine called posaconazole. It is a triazole antifungal agent and exerts its antifungal activity through the blockage of certain enzymes (P-450 dependent enzyme, sterol 14α-demethylase). This leads to inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane, and the accumulation of methylated sterol precursors. This results in inhibiting fungal cell growth and, ultimately, cell death. Thus, it treats infections.
Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's is not recommended for coadministration with anticoagulants, So if you are under anticoagulant therapy, inform your doctor before prescribing Posoxil-GR 300 Tablet 10's.
