About PRIVENT DT TABLET

PRIVENT DT TABLET belongs to a class of anti-histamine or anti-allergic drugs, primarily used to treat a wide variety of allergies. It is also used to treat symptoms of asthma by decreasing inflammation in the lungs. An allergy is an immune system response to foreign elements typically not harmful to your body. These foreign elements are known as ‘allergens.’ Allergic condition varies from person to person. Some might be allergic to certain foods and seasonal allergies like hay fever. At the same time, others might be allergic to pollen or pet dander.
PRIVENT DT TABLET contains Ketotifen, an anti-histamine, which is used to treat allergies. It blocks the effects of a chemical messenger known as ‘histamine,’ which is naturally involved in allergic reactions. Additionally, PRIVENT DT TABLET also treats hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and reduces asthma symptoms by reducing inflammation in the lungs. So, blocking the effect of histamine PRIVENT DT TABLET helps to reduce the symptoms of various allergies.
Take PRIVENT DT TABLET as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take PRIVENT DT TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. The tablet form of PRIVENT DT TABLET may cause irritation, drowsiness, hyperactivity, sleep disturbances in some cases. The eye drops may cause watery eyes, running nose, eye irritation. Most of these side effects of PRIVENT DT TABLET do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. 
You should not take PRIVENT DT TABLET if you are allergic to Ketotifen or have diabetes, epilepsy or glaucoma. Please mention all the other medicines you are taking to your doctor before starting PRIVENT DT TABLET. PRIVENT DT TABLET is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women as it is a pregnancy category D drug. Also, if you are using eye drops, please remove contact lenses before using PRIVENT DT TABLET.  Do not use two eye medications together; wait for at least 5 minutes before using the second medication.

PRIVENT DT TABLET can be taken with or without food. The tablet form of PRIVENT DT TABLET should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water, do not chew or crush it. The eye drops should be put as advised by your doctor. The syrup form should be shaken well before use and then taken in dose as prescribed by a doctor.
