Rf-4 Kit Tab is used to treat tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs, but it can also spread to other body parts such as kidneys, brain, spine and bone marrow. Rf-4 Kit Tab does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

Rf-4 Kit Tab is a combination of four anti-tuberculosis drugs: Rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol. Isoniazid prevents the formation of the bacterial cell wall. At the same time, rifampicin inactivates a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase), which is required by TB bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Ethambutol and pyrazinamide work by slowing the growth of bacteria. Altogether, they kill the bacteria and treat the infection.

The dose and duration of Rf-4 Kit Tab can vary depending on your condition and the severity of the infection. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as weakness, nausea, vomiting, malaise (feeling of discomfort), fatigue and vision problems. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Avoid foods and drinks containing histamine or tyramine, such as cured meat, matured cheese, soya, tuna, salmon, mackerel, wine and beer, while taking Rf-4 Kit Tab as they might cause interaction. Maintain a gap of one hour between Rf-4 Kit Tab and antacid medicines. Consult your doctor before taking Rf-4 Kit Tab if you are pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Rf-4 Kit Tab as it passes into breast milk. Rf-4 Kit Tab is not recommended for use in children. Rf-4 Kit Tab may cause dizziness and vision problems, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Rf-4 Kit Tab as it might lead to liver problems and increased dizziness.

• Tuberculosis Treatment: Rf-4 Kit Tab is primarily prescribed as a first-line treatment for tuberculosis (TB), targeting infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
• Management of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis: In specific cases, Rf-4 Kit Tab may be included in treatment regimens for drug-resistant TB, under strict medical supervision.
• Supportive Treatment: Rf-4 Kit Tab may also be used to address secondary infections that develop during tuberculosis treatment, aiding in overall health recovery.

• Rf-4 Kit Tab should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after eating.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Swallow Rf-4 Kit Tab as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush, break, or chew it.
