About Siphene Tablet

Siphene Tablet is an oral prescription medication primarily used to treat female infertility. It helps trigger ovulation (the release of a mature egg) in women who do not ovulate regularly or at all, such as those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Siphene Tablet is taken as a short oral course, usually for a few consecutive days during a specific window of your menstrual cycle. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it at the same time each day helps maintain steady levels in your body. Making positive lifestyle changes, such as managing stress, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating a balanced diet, can support the treatment's success.

While taking Siphene Tablet, some individuals may experience mild side effects like hot flashes, abdominal bloating, or breast tenderness. However, if you experience visual disturbances, severe pelvic pain, or sudden weight gain, you must contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Before starting Siphene Tablet, speak with your doctor if you have liver disease, unusual vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, ovarian cysts (unrelated to PCOS), or thyroid disorders. Do not take this medicine if you are already pregnant, have active liver damage, or have hormone-dependent tumours.

Certain medications can interact with Siphene Tablet, potentially reducing its effectiveness or increasing side effects, so share a full list of your current medicines with your pharmacist. Avoid drinking alcohol during treatment as it can worsen dizziness or hot flashes. This medicine is not intended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor is it typically prescribed for elderly individuals.

Uses of Siphene Tablet

Siphene Tablet is used to treat female infertility. The detailed uses of Siphene Tablet are as follows:

  • Infertility due to lack of ovulation: Siphene Tablet helps stimulate the ovaries to mature and release an egg, allowing women who do not ovulate regularly to have a chance at conception.
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)-associated infertility: It acts on the pituitary gland to trigger the hormones needed to prompt egg development in women with PCOS.

Key Benefits

Siphene Tablet helps support ovulation in women with certain ovulatory disorders, improving the chances of conception. By stimulating the body's natural hormonal processes, it promotes regular ovulation and supports fertility treatment.

  • Provides a non-invasive fertility option: Unlike injectable fertility treatments, Siphene Tablet is taken orally, offering a straightforward, widely utilised first-line treatment for ovulatory issues.
  • Establishes a predictable ovulation cycle: By regulating the hormonal signals that control egg release, this medication helps couples better plan intercourse or clinical procedures.
  • Addresses the root cause of certain ovulatory delays: It works directly with your body's natural hormone systems to restore ovulation without requiring continuous daily use throughout the entire month.

How Siphene Tablet Works

Siphene Tablet contains clomiphene, which belongs to a class of medications called selective oestrogen receptor modulators. It works by blocking oestrogen receptors in the brain, specifically in the hypothalamus. This action tricks your brain into thinking that oestrogen levels in the body are very low. In response, the brain releases more follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). These hormones signal the ovaries to develop, mature, and eventually release one or more eggs during the menstrual cycle.
