M-Solvin Syrup is a cough suppressant medicine. It is used to treat cough. It helps provides relief from cough associated with mucus, chest congestion, and stuffy nose caused due to common cold and flu. Coughing can be defined as the body's way of clearing irritants like allergens, mucus or smoke from the airways. Cough can be described as two types, namely: dry cough and wet cough. A dry cough is a non-productive cough that is tickly and doesn't produce any mucus. A wet cough (chesty cough) is a productive cough that produces mucous or sputum.

M-Solvin Syrup is a combination medicine containing Ambroxol (mucolytic agent), Guaiphenesin (expectorant) and Terbutaline (bronchodilators). Ambroxol works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose and thus helps to cough out phlegm easily. Guaiphenesin increases the fluid volume in the airways and helps to remove it from the airways. Terbutaline relaxes muscles and widens the airways. Thereby M-Solvin Syrup makes breathing easier. 

M-Solvin Syrup may cause certain side effects in your child, such as nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, tremors and stomach upset. These side effects do not require medical attention. However, if these side effects worsen, please consult your paediatrician. M-Solvin Syrup should be given as advised by your doctor. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of medicine to your child. M-Solvin Syrup can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your paediatrician, depending on your child’s condition.

Signs and symptoms of an overdose of M-Solvin Syrup may include anxiety, arrhythmia, ataxia, changes in white blood cell count, constipation, convulsions, decreased motility, drowsiness, dyspnea, eye irritation, fall in blood pressure, gastrointestinal discomfort, gastrointestinal tract irritation, headache, nausea, nausea, palpitations, peritonitis, respiratory stimulation, respiratory tract irritation, skin irritation, somnolence, tachycardia, tonic cramps, tremor, tremor, ulceration or bleeding from the stomach or duodenum, and vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any symptoms or think you have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Try to give food containing green leafy vegetables.
  • Make your child drink plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat. It also helps loosen mucus.
  • Avoid giving citrus fruits like oranges to your child as they may worsen the cough.
  • Give your child fruits rich in water content, such as pears, watermelon, peaches and pineapples.
