Tenvir-L Tablet is used to treat HIV infection. About Tenvir-L Tablet

Tenvir-L Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called antiretrovirals used to treat HIV infection. Tenvir-L Tablet helps in decreasing the chance of developing AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system and destroys the white blood cells that help in fighting infection, making the individual susceptible to other infections or illnesses.

Tenvir-L Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Lamivudine and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, whereas Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Tenvir-L Tablet works by interfering with the working of nucleotide and nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes necessary for the reproduction of the virus. Together, Tenvir-L Tablet helps in treating HIV infection.

Take Tenvir-L Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Tenvir-L Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, or rash. What if I have taken an overdose of Tenvir-L Tablet

Take Tenvir-L Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

If you are allergic to Tenvir-L Tablet or any other medicines, soya or peanut, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, please consult a doctor before taking Tenvir-L Tablet . Avoid breastfeeding while taking Tenvir-L Tablet as it may pass into breast milk. Tenvir-L Tablet is not recommended for children below 18 years of age. You are advised to take proper precautions if you are infected with HIV infection to prevent the spread of infection to others through sexual contact or body fluids. If you experience stomach pain, vomiting or nausea while taking Tenvir-L Tablet , please consult a doctor immediately as these might be symptoms of a rare but severe side effect known as lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in the blood). Tenvir-L Tablet may cause bone problems such as osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue due to loss of blood supply to the bone), especially in HIV patients taking combination antiretroviral therapy. However, if you experience joint pains, stiffness (especially shoulder, knee or hip) or difficulty in movement, please consult a doctor immediately.

HIV infection may still be transmitted to other persons while using Tenvir-L Tablet . Tenvir-L Tablet reduces the risk of transmission, but still, HIV infection is contagious. Therefore, discuss with a doctor regarding precautions to be taken to avoid transmission of HIV while taking Tenvir-L Tablet .

Tenvir-L Tablet does not cure HIV infection. Tenvir-L Tablet reduces the amount of HIV virus in the body and improves the functioning of the immune system.

Tenvir-L Tablet should be used with caution in patients with existing infections as it may worsen the infection. However, please consult a doctor if you notice any signs of infection or inflammation.

Tenvir-L Tablet may cause lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in the blood), a rare but severe side effect, especially in women who are very obese and in people with liver disease. However, if you experience stomach pain, vomiting or nausea while taking Tenvir-L Tablet , please consult a doctor immediately.

Tenvir-L Tablet is safe if used in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if you experience any of the side effects.

Always take Tenvir-L Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Do not crush or break it. You can take Tenvir-L Tablet with food or between meals.

If you forget to take a dose of Tenvir-L Tablet , take it as soon as you remember. But, if it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

The common side effects of Tenvir-L Tablet are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness and rash. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
