TOCIN OINTMENT contains tobramycin, an antibiotic that works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. Thus, TOCIN OINTMENT treats bacterial eye infections.
Use TOCIN OINTMENT as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of TOCIN OINTMENT are eye irritation, feeling of having something in the eye, swollen/itchy eyelids, eye redness, increased tearing and inflammation of the cornea (clear front portion of your eye). Most of these side effects fade away gradually over time without the need for medical intervention. However, consult your doctor if you experience these side effects frequently.
TOCIN OINTMENT is for ophthalmic (eye) use only; do not inject or swallow. Do not use TOCIN OINTMENT if you are allergic to tobramycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any components in TOCIN OINTMENT. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, notify your doctor. Use TOCIN OINTMENT only for the duration recommended by your doctor. Do not use it for more than the recommended duration. Inform your doctor if the eye infection does not improve after three days of using TOCIN OINTMENT.
TOCIN OINTMENT can be used with other eye medications if prescribed by the doctor. Maintain a gap of 15 minutes between TOCIN OINTMENT and other eye medications. Use other eye medications first, wait for 15 minutes and then use TOCIN OINTMENT.
Do not wear contact lenses while using TOCIN OINTMENT. Remove contact lenses before using the TOCIN OINTMENT. It is advised to wear spectacles and avoid contact lenses until the infection is cleared.
TOCIN OINTMENT may temporarily blur the vision. Therefore, wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery to prevent any mishappening.
TOCIN OINTMENT has broad spectrum activity. It kills aerobic gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
TOCIN OINTMENT should be used for as long as it has been prescribed by the doctor. The doctor will determine the duration of the treatment based on your condition.
