About TOPCEF DC TABLET

TOPCEF DC TABLET belongs to a class of drugs called antibiotics used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ears, nose, throat, chest, and lungs. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. TOPCEF DC TABLET does not work against infections caused by the virus.

TOPCEF DC TABLET is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Cefixime and Dicloxacillin.  TOPCEF DC TABLET works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival. Thereby damages the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria.

Take TOPCEF DC TABLET as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take TOPCEF DC TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, indigestion, or vaginal itching in some cases. Most of these side effects of TOPCEF DC TABLET do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

TOPCEF DC TABLET can be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Do not take TOPCEF DC TABLET while going to bed or lying down to prevent stomach irritation or heartburn.

How does the drug interact with Topcef Dc Tablet:
Co-administration of Topcef Dc Tablet with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Topcef Dc Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

Co-administration of methotrexate with Topcef Dc Tablet can increase the levels and effects of methotrexate. This can increase the risk or severity of serious infections.

However, if you experience any symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth ulcers, paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, sore throat, body aches.
