Treoall 5 gm Injection 1's is a medicine used as conditioning treatment before an allogeneic blood stem cell transplant, a procedure in which healthy stem cells from a donor are given to replace the patient's blood-forming cells. It helps prepare the bone marrow and immune system so the donor stem cells can settle and begin producing healthy blood cells.
This medicine is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion into a vein in a hospital or specialised transplant centre. As part of a transplant conditioning plan, treosulfan is commonly given once daily for three consecutive days before the stem cell transplant. It is usually combined with another conditioning medicine, such as fludarabine. The exact treatment schedule is planned and closely managed by the transplant team.
Treatment can cause low blood cell counts, nausea, vomiting, mouth sores, tiredness, and temporary hair loss. Low blood cell counts can increase the risk of infection, bleeding, and anaemia. Serious complications can also occur, so you will be monitored closely before, during, and after treatment.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, especially liver, kidney, lung, or heart problems and any active infection. Tell your healthcare team about all medicines, supplements, and vaccines you use.
Treosulfan can harm an unborn baby and may affect fertility. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planning to have children in the future. Your doctor can discuss contraception and fertility preservation before treatment begins.
