About Vitcofol-HB Capsule

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Also, Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is a combination of elemental iron, folic acid and glycine. Elemental iron and folic acid work by increasing red blood cell (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. Glycine is used to synthesise proteins in the body.

In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset, or dark-colored stool. Most of these side effects of Vitcofol-HB Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Vitcofol-HB Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Vitcofol-HB Capsule . Vitcofol-HB Capsule should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used in the treatment of Anaemia. The detailed uses of Vitcofol-HB Capsule are as follows:

  • Iron-Deficiency Anemia: Vitcofol-HB Capsule replenishes iron stores and boosts hemoglobin production and supports oxygen transport throughout the body.
  • Pregnancy & Lactation Support: Vitcofol-HB Capsule prevents anemia in mothers, supports fetal brain and spinal cord development and aids in protein synthesis for fetal growth.

Directions for Use

  • Vitcofol-HB Capsule can be taken on an empty stomach, usually 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, for better absorption. However, avoid taking it with coffee, tea, or dairy products, as they may reduce its absorption.
  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
  • Swallow Vitcofol-HB Capsule as a whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not crush, chew, or open it.

How Vitcofol-HB Capsule Works

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is a combination of three drugs: Elemental iron, folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) and Glycine (amino acid). Elemental iron and folic acid work by increasing red blood cell (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs are produced in the body, so that the body's each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen. Glycine is an amino acid that is used to synthesise proteins in the body.

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.• Keep Vitcofol-HB Capsule out of reach and sight of children.• Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.

What if I have taken an overdose of Vitcofol-HB Capsule

Take Vitcofol-HB Capsule only as advised by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause adverse effects. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

  • If you are allergic to Vitcofol-HB Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

Co-administration of Vitcofol-HB Capsule with Capecitabine may increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anemia, infections, and nerve damage.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Vitcofol-HB Capsule and Capecitabine, you can use these medicines together if prescribed by the doctor. However, if you experience paleness of skin, diarrhea, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the hands and feet, contact a doctor. Although there is a possible interaction between Vitcofol-HB Capsule and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Also, Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule contains Elemental iron, folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) and Glycine. You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Vitcofol-HB Capsule . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Vitcofol-HB Capsule in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule is not recommended for patients with hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .

Iron in Vitcofol-HB Capsule may turn the stools black. It is a common side effect of Vitcofol-HB Capsule and is not harmful.
