Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet is used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is a medical condition in which blood glucose levels are above normal due to insulin deficiency, insulin resistance, or both.

Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet contains Metformin, Teneligliptin and pioglitazone. Metformin reduces the sugar production by cells in the liver and delays sugar absorption from the intestines; Teneligliptin works by decreasing the hormones that raise blood glucose levels and increasing insulin release from the pancreas, and pioglitazone works by helping the body make better use of the insulin it produces.

Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet may cause certain common side effects such as stomach upset, hypoglycaemia, nausea, headache, and vomiting. If these side effects persist longer, consult your doctor immediately. Take Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

What if I have taken an overdose of Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet may include hypoglycaemia, severe lactic acidosis, weight gain in a short period, shortness of breath, swelling of the body parts, swelling or pain in the stomach, frequent dry cough or wheezing, difficulty thinking clearly or confusion, fast or racing heartbeat, and increased tiredness. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe these symptoms or think you might have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

Drug Warnings

Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to any medicines or their components. It is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Avoid drinking alcohol while on Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet  as it increases the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis (when the lactic acid increases in the body, which impacts the functioning of various organs in the body). It is unknown whether Zita-Piomet 500 Tablet can be given to pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. Hence, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
