About Caldrich Tablet

Caldrich Tablet is a nutritional supplement primarily used to treat low blood calcium levels. It effectively treats various conditions, such as vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis (characterised by weak bones), latent tetany (a muscle disease associated with low blood calcium levels), and rickets or osteomalacia (a condition characterised by softening of bones due to low calcium levels).

Caldrich Tablet contains Calcium and Vitamin D3. Caldrich Tablet works by increasing calcium and vitamin D levels in the body, thereby supporting the essential functions necessary for bone formation and maintenance. Together, they help prevent bone loss, support bone growth, and reduce muscle cramps caused by low calcium levels.

Caldrich Tablet is likely safe to consume. In some cases, it may cause common side effects like constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, and headache. These side effects typically do not require medical attention and usually resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to a doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Take Caldrich Tablet as advised. Your physician will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. You can take Caldrich Tablet with or without food. It is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose of Caldrich Tablet . Do not chew, crush or break the medicine.

How Caldrich Tablet Works

Caldrich Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Calcium citrate (calcium supplement) and Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Calcium citrate is used to prevent or treat a calcium deficiency. Cholecalciferol helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorous.  Thereby, it increases calcium levels in the blood and helps to build and maintain strong bones.

What if I have taken an overdose of Caldrich Tablet

If you accidentally take more medicine than your doctor told you to, or if a child has taken some medicine by mistake, contact your doctor or go to your nearest emergency department immediately. An overdose could cause adverse events. Signs and symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, mental/mood changes, headache, drowsiness, weakness, tiredness. Consult the doctor even if there are no signs of discomfort.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid taking Caldrich Tablet if you are allergic to it.
  • It may contain sugar or aspartame. Hence, caution should be taken in diabetes and phenylketonuria (increased levels of an amino acid called phenylalanine).
  • Inform your doctor if you have any history of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in the body), kidney disease, liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, heart disease, kidney stones and hypervitaminosis D (having too much vitamin D) before taking Caldrich Tablet .
  • Higher doses of Vitamin D than the recommended daily dose should be used in pregnant women only when advised by the doctor.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, or milk-based custard in your diet.
  • Eat daily a serving of broccoli, cabbage, bok choy (Chinese white cabbage), spinach, and other green leafy vegetables.
  • Snack on calcium-rich nuts like Brazil nuts or almonds.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds over your food, vegetables, and salads. Sesame seeds are high in calcium.
  • Avoid or reduce the intake of caffeine, soft drinks, and alcohol that inhibit calcium absorption.
  • Replace the meat with tofu or tempeh for extra calcium in your food.

You are not recommended to take Caldrich Tablet if you have hypervitaminosis D (high vitamin D levels in the blood) as it may worsen the condition. However, please consult a doctor before using Caldrich Tablet .

Caldrich Tablet is not recommended for patients with malabsorption (inefficient absorption of nutrients from the bowel) syndrome. Please consult a doctor before using Caldrich Tablet if you have malabsorption syndrome.

You are not recommended to take Caldrich Tablet with levothyroxine as co-administration of these two medicines at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of levothyroxine. However, if you are supposed to take both medicines, you are advised to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 4 hours between taking Caldrich Tablet and levothyroxine.

Caldrich Tablet is not recommended for a patient suffering from kidney stones as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, if you have any kidney problems or have a history of kidney stones, please inform your doctor before taking Caldrich Tablet .

Vitamin D can be found in various food sources, including mushrooms, particularly shiitake and portobello, and fortified plant-based milk like soy and almond milk. Fortified cereals and vegetarian vitamin D-fortified yoghurt are also good sources. Additionally, sun-dried mushrooms and orange juice fortified with vitamin D can contribute to your daily intake. Some brands of tofu and other soy products may also contain vitamin D. Naturally rich sources include cod liver oil and fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines. However, it's essential to check nutrition labels to confirm the presence of vitamin D in these foods.
