About Feronia-XT Suspension

Feronia-XT Suspension belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues.

Feronia-XT Suspension contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by replenishing iron stores, and vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thus, Feronia-XT Suspension helps to treat iron deficiency.

Feronia-XT Suspension contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by increasing red blood cells (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs are produced in the body so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen. Thus, Feronia-XT Suspension replenishes iron stores in the body. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thereby, Feronia-XT Suspension helps to treat iron deficiency.

You are not recommended to take Feronia-XT Suspension with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Feronia-XT Suspension . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Feronia-XT Suspension .

You are not recommended to take Feronia-XT Suspension with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Feronia-XT Suspension in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Feronia-XT Suspension with phenytoin.

Feronia-XT Suspension should be used with caution in patients suffering from stomach ulcers, as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have an ulcer before taking Feronia-XT Suspension .

Feronia-XT Suspension may turn stools black. It is a common side effect of Feronia-XT Suspension and is not harmful.
