Feronia-XT Suspension belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.

Feronia-XT Suspension contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by replenishing iron stores, and vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thus, Feronia-XT Suspension helps to treat iron deficiency.

Take Feronia-XT Suspension as advised by your doctor. In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea or dark-coloured stool. Most of these side effects of Feronia-XT Suspension do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

• Feronia-XT Suspension should be taken with food for better absorption. However, avoid taking it with coffee, tea, or dairy products, as they may reduce its absorption.• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.• Shake the bottle well before each use. • Take the recommended dose of Feronia-XT Suspension by mouth using the measuring cup/dropper provided with the pack.• Avoid using regular household spoons, as they may not measure the dose correctly.

Coadministration of Feronia-XT Suspension 150 ml and Fluorouracil may increase the effects of Fluorouracil and increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anaemia (lack of blood), infections, and nerve damage.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Feronia-XT Suspension 150 ml and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.

You are not recommended to take Feronia-XT Suspension with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Feronia-XT Suspension in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Feronia-XT Suspension with phenytoin.

Feronia-XT Suspension should be used with caution in patients suffering from stomach ulcers as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have an ulcer before taking Feronia-XT Suspension .

Feronia-XT Suspension may turn stools to black colour. It is a common side effect of Feronia-XT Suspension and is not harmful.
