About Fez-XT Syrup

Fez-XT Syrup belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron or folic acid deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor food absorption, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy).

Fez-XT Syrup contains Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps transport oxygen throughout the body and produce red blood cells. Folic acid works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBCs) in the body. Together, Fez-XT Syrup helps treat anaemia.

Fez-XT Syrup may cause side effects like nausea, constipation, stomach upset, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), and black or tarry stools. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Do not take Fez-XT Syrup if you are allergic to iron, folic acid, or any of the ingredients of Fez-XT Syrup . Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This supplement should be given to a child under 12 years of age only if advised by the doctor.

Directions for Use

  • Fez-XT Syrup can be taken on an empty stomach for better absorption. However, if it causes stomach upset, take it with food.
  • It is usually taken once daily or as recommended by your doctor.
  • For Syrup/Suspension: Take the recommended dose of Fez-XT Syrup by mouth using the measuring cup provided with the pack.
  • For Dry Syrup: Gently tap the bottle a few times to loosen the powder. Add boiled and cooled water until it reaches the mark on the bottle. Close the bottle tightly and shake well to form a uniform suspension. Take the recommended dose of the reconstituted suspension by mouth using the measuring cup provided with the pack.
  • Avoid using regular household spoons, as they may not accurately measure the dose.

What if I have taken an overdose of Fez-XT Syrup

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Fez-XT Syrup may include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea, irritability, confusion, behaviour changes, skin reactions, seizures, and vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any symptoms or think you have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Fez-XT Syrup if you are allergic to iron, folic acid or any of the ingredients of Fez-XT Syrup .
  • Fez-XT Syrup is not recommended for use in certain medical conditions, such as active bacterial infections, hemolytic anaemia (a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be produced), hemosiderosis (excessive iron buildup in tissues), or hemochromatosis (a condition where the body absorbs and stores excessive amounts of iron).
  • Fez-XT Syrup is generally safe to consume during pregnancy. However, it should be taken under the supervision of a doctor.
  • Let your doctor know if you are a nursing mother before starting Fez-XT Syrup .

Folic acid requirements are usually met from the diet, but additional supplements are required in cases of deficiency. Fez-XT Syrup is advised to pregnant women who want to conceive as folate utilization is increased in pregnancy. It is generally given at least 4 weeks before pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months of pregnancy.

It is recommended not to take Fez-XT Syrup with tea, coffee, milk, or eggs, as the body may absorb less iron from supplements if they are taken together, which may reduce the effectiveness of Fez-XT Syrup .

Fez-XT Syrup is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. However, in some patients, it can cause an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach. So, please follow your doctor's suggestion if you have an upset stomach.

If you are pregnant, it is necessary to maintain the right levels of folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects as the baby's central nervous system develops. So, to avoid any defect, it is necessary to take it for the first three months as the neural tube is formed completely by this time.

Foods rich in folic acid and iron include leafy green vegetables like spinach, beans, nuts, peas, seafood, and citrus fruits like oranges.

Fez-XT Syrup may cause side effects such as nausea, constipation, stomach upset, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), and black or tarry stools. Most of these side effects of Fez-XT Syrup do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Medicines used to treat indigestion, such as antacids, those used to treat bone problems, like bisphosphonates, and those used to treat bacterial infections, like Chloramphenicol, should be taken with a minimum gap of two hours. If you are taking medicines like Sulfasalazine (used to treat ulcers), Phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy), and Methotrexate (used to treat cancer), consult your doctor.

In case of folic acid deficiency, it is possible to get anaemia, ulcers in the mouth, diarrhoea and flatulence. In severe cases, it can result in infertility.
