About I-UP Drops

I-UP Drops is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various tissues throughout the body.

I-UP Drops is a combination of two drugs: Ferrous ascorbate and folic acid. I-UP Drops works by increasing the production of red blood cells (RBCs) and haemoglobin (a protein) in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs is produced in the body so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.

Not everyone who is taking I-UP Drops will get these side effects. In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset or dark coloured stool. Most of these side effects of I-UP Drops do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Take I-UP Drops orally 1 hour before food or 2 hours after food or as directed by your doctor, typically once daily in the morning. The dosage of the medicine is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is advised to complete your treatment course for better results.

If you are allergic to I-UP Drops or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using I-UP Drops. Coadministration of I-UP Drops 15 ml and Fluorouracil may increase the effects of Fluorouracil and increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anaemia (lack of blood), infections, and nerve damage.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between I-UP Drops 15 ml and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.

I-UP Drops is used for the treatment of anaemia.

You are not recommended to take I-UP Drops with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time as they may reduce the absorption of I-UP Drops. However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking I-UP Drops.

You are not recommended to take I-UP Drops with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of I-UP Drops in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking I-UP Drops with phenytoin.

I-UP Drops is not recommended for hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) patients as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking I-UP Drops.
