Pirox Gel belongs to the group of medications known as NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disorders including tenosynovitis, tendinitis, periarthritis, strains, sprains, and low back pain.
Pirox Gel works by blocking the effect of chemical messengers (prostaglandin), thereby reducing joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and inflammation.
Pirox Gel is used to reduce and relieve pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. It is a joint disease in which the two ends of the joints come together due to the breakdown of a protective covering called cartilage.
Avoid concomitant use of Pirox Gel with other topical products such as cosmetics, sunscreens, lotions, moisturisers, insect repellent creams, and other gels.
Do not apply external heat or cover the treated skin with dressings after using Pirox Gel . Covering the skin or applying heat might increase the amount of drug absorbed into the skin, leading to unpleasant side effects.
Do not apply Pirox Gel on wounds, skin injuries, irritated skin, skin abrasions, rashes, and infected skin. Apply Pirox Gel on healthy skin only.
Pirox Gel may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Therefore, avoid using sunbeds and wear protective clothing whilst on treatment with Pirox Gel .
