About Pro-HB Syrup
Pro-HB Syrup belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues.
Pro-HB Syrup contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by replenishing iron stores, and vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thus, Pro-HB Syrup helps to treat iron deficiency.
In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea or dark-coloured stool. Most of these side effects of Pro-HB Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Pro-HB Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Pro-HB Syrup . Pro-HB Syrup should be used in children only if recommended by a doctor.

Pro-HB Syrup is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease.
Pro-HB Syrup contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by increasing red blood cells (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs are produced in the body so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen. Thus, Pro-HB Syrup replenishes iron stores in the body. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thereby, Pro-HB Syrup helps to treat iron deficiency.
You are not recommended to take Pro-HB Syrup with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Pro-HB Syrup . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Pro-HB Syrup .
You are not recommended to take Pro-HB Syrup with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Pro-HB Syrup in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Pro-HB Syrup with phenytoin.
Pro-HB Syrup should be used with caution in patients suffering from stomach ulcers, as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have an ulcer before taking Pro-HB Syrup .
Pro-HB Syrup may turn stools black. It is a common side effect of Pro-HB Syrup and is not harmful.
