Rectol 125mg Suppository is used to treat mild to moderate pain and fever in adults and children weighing at least 7kgs. Pain and fever are caused by the activation of pain receptors due to the release of certain natural chemicals in the body like prostaglandins. 

Rectol 125mg Suppository contains 'Paracetamol' which prevents the release of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause pain and inflammation. Thus, relieves pain. Rectol 125mg Suppository also acts as an antipyretic agent by affecting the chemical messengers in the brain that regulate body temperature. Thereby, reduces fever.

Not everyone who is taking Rectol 125mg Suppository will get these side effects. In some cases, Rectol 125mg Suppository may cause side effects like rash, soreness in or around the rectum/anus, and itching. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if these side effects persist, please consult a doctor.

What if I have taken an overdose of Rectol 125mg Suppository

Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, sweating, extreme tiredness, unusual bleeding or bruising, flu-like symptoms, yellowing of the skin or eyes, and pain in the upper right part of the stomach. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid taking Rectol 125mg Suppository if allergic to it.
  • If you have an impaired nutritional state caused by anorexia (eating disorder), wrong nutrition or alcohol abuse or if you are dehydrated, inform your doctor before taking Rectol 125mg Suppository.

  • Hot or cold therapy can help treat pain. Apply an ice pack or hot pack on the muscle for 15-20minutes.
