Wax Riv Ear Drop belongs to the class of medications called ‘Otic agents’ used to soften the impacted earwax. Earwax build-up occurs due to an ear infection, inflammation, injury, or other conditions such as bone deformations in the ear, skin diseases such as eczema (skin inflammation), or narrowed ear canals.

Wax Riv Ear Drop contains Paradichlorobenzene, Benzocaine, Chlorbutol, and Turpentine oil. Paradichlorobenzene acts as a hydrating agent. It softens the ear wax by reducing its thickness. Benzocaine acts as a local anaesthetic and prevents pain. Chlorbutol acts as a wax softener. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent. Together, Wax Riv Ear Drop helps soften the ear wax.

Wax Riv Ear Drop is for otic (ear) use only. The common side-effects of Wax Riv Ear Drop are difficulty sleeping, skin irritation, redness, and headache. These side-effects are usually mild and temporary that doesn’t require medical attention. However, inform your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Do not use Wax Riv Ear Drop if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have inflamed ear canal, perforated eardrum, or eczema (skin inflammation) on the outer ear.  It is not recommended for use in children below 1 year of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor regarding other prescription, non-prescription or herbal medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

Wax Riv Ear Drop is used for Softening impacted earwax. The detailed uses of Wax Riv Ear Drop are as follows:

• Soften and remove impacted earwax: Wax Riv Ear Drop is primarily used to dissolve hardened earwax, making it easier to remove and preventing ear blockage. It helps relieve symptoms like ear fullness, discomfort, and temporary hearing loss caused by wax buildup.
• Relieve pain and irritation in the ear canal: Wax Riv Ear Drop contains Benzocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the ear canal and reduces pain and itching associated with earwax impaction or minor ear inflammation.
• Prevent infection and lubricate the ear: Wax Riv Ear Drop includes Chlorbutol, which acts as an antiseptic and wax softener, and Turpentine Oil, which provides lubrication and aids in the smooth removal of earwax while soothing the ear canal.

• Follow your doctor's recommendations on the dosage and timing of this medication to achieve optimal results.
• Lie down with the affected ear facing upwards. Hold the dropper over the ear and instil the advised number of drops into the ear. Continue to lie on your side for two minutes to allow the drops to reach the base of the ear canal. Repeat the procedure for the other ear if needed.
• Do not touch the dropper to the ear or surrounding areas to avoid contamination.

Do not use Wax Riv Ear Drop if you notice any swelling, discharge from the ears, or tinnitus (ringing sounds in the ears), as it may indicate ear inflammation. While instilling the ear drops, do not push the dropper into the ear. Wax Riv Ear Drop is not recommended for use in children below one year of age. Before taking Wax Riv Ear Drop, inform your doctor if you have hearing problems (including deafness), intestinal problems (including blockage, swelling, ulcers), kidney problems, myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease), and Parkinson's disease.
