X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues.
X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet contains Ferrous ascorbate, which is a combination of iron and vitamin C. Iron works by replenishing iron stores, and vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thus, X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet helps to treat iron deficiency.
In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea or dark-coloured stool. Most of these side effects of X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

As a result, an adequate number of RBCs are produced in the body so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen. Thus, X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet replenishes iron stores in the body. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption in the body. Thereby, X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet helps to treat iron deficiency.
You are not recommended to take X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet .
You are not recommended to take X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet with phenytoin.
X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet should be used with caution in patients suffering from stomach ulcers, as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have an ulcer before taking X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet .
X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet may turn stools black. It is a common side effect of X-Heme 12 mg Fe 2+ Tablet and is not harmful.
