Xtracal CT Tablet belongs to the class of nutritional supplements used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels.
Xtracal CT Tablet contains Elemental Calcium and Calcitriol. Elemental Calcium is a mineral that is used to prevent or treat a calcium deficiency. It provides essential nutrients to maintain bone formation. Calcitriol is a man-made form of Vitamin D3 and treats calcium deficiency with hypoparathyroidism (the decreased activity of parathyroid glands) and metabolic bone diseases in people with chronic kidney failure. It raises Vitamin D levels and thereby increases calcium levels in the blood. This helps in improving the absorption rate of calcium from the stomach.
You are not recommended to take Xtracal CT Tablet if you have hypervitaminosis D (high levels of vitamin D in the blood) as it may worsen the condition. However, please consult a doctor before using Xtracal CT Tablet .
You are not recommended to take Xtracal CT Tablet with levothyroxine as co-administration of these two medicines at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of levothyroxine. However, if you are supposed to take both the medicines, you are advised to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 4 hours between taking Xtracal CT Tablet and levothyroxine.
Yes, Xtracal CT Tablet may interfere with certain laboratory tests, including cholesterol tests and may give false test results. Therefore, it is recommended to inform your doctor or lab technician that you are taking Xtracal CT Tablet before undergoing any tests.
Xtracal CT Tablet may cause kidney stones due to the accumulation of high levels of calcium when used for a prolonged time. Therefore, please consult a doctor before taking Xtracal CT Tablet if you have any kidney problems or a history of kidney stones.
