DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.
DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE is a combination of two drugs: Ilaprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Ilaprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Proton pumps are tiny substances in the stomach lining that help it make acid to digest food. Ilaprazole prevents proton pumps from working properly. This reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes. Domperidone works by increasing the movement of food through the stomach and the digestive tract more quickly and in this way reduces the feeling of bloating, fullness and indigestion. It also blocks messages between parts of your brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and the vomiting centre. This stops you from feeling sick (nauseous) and prevents you from vomiting. Together, DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE helps treat acidity-related problems.
Take DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE as prescribed. You are advised to take DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence, dryness in the mouth, dizziness, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Inform your doctor before taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. Do not take DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you have black, tarry bowel motions; blockage or tear in your intestines, disorder known as phenylketonuria, low potassium, or magnesium level. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE should not be given to children below 12 years of age. Avoid consuming alcohol and DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Do not take DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have black, tarry bowel motions, blockage or tear in your intestines, a tumor of the pituitary gland called a prolactinoma, have a disorder known as phenylketonuria. Inform your doctor before taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you have AIDS/HIV, stomach tumor, kidney, heart, or liver disease. Do not take DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Stop taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE and inform your doctor if you notice heart rhythm disorders such as palpitations, or trouble breathing. Inform your doctor about all your ongoing medications used to treat fungal infections, bacterial infections, high blood pressure medication, depression medications, AIDS/HIV medications.
Drug-Drug Interactions: DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE may have interaction with bepridil (treat angina), cisapride, darunavir (HIV/AIDS medication), dronedarone, fluconazole (antifungal), ketoconazole (antifungal), mesoridazine, pimozide (an antipsychotic drug), piperaquine (antimalarial), posaconazole (antifungal), saquinavir (HIV/AIDS medication), sparfloxacin (antibiotic), terfenadine (allergy medicine), thioridazine (antipsychotic), ziprasidone, amoxicillin (antibiotic), clarithromycin (antibiotic), and midazolam (anesthesia).
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid alcohol consumption as alcohol intake leads to increased stomach acid production, increasing acidity, and heartburn.
Drug-Disease Interactions: DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE may have interactions with liver or kidney problems, phenylketonuria (rare inherited disorder), stomach or intestines obstruction, prolactinoma (noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland), and heart failure.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.
Consult your doctor before taking DOMPERIDONE+ILAPRAZOLE if you are pregnant; your doctor will prescribe only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets irritated or eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, hyperacidity, peptic ulcers, and heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.
Peptic ulcers: These are sores that develop on the stomach and intestine lining due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Symptoms include nausea, changes in appetite, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion.
