Orofer XT Drops is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. It contains Ferrous ascorbate, which works by enhancing the absorption of iron and replenishing iron stores. In some cases, this medicine may cause side effects such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea or dark-coloured stool. Before taking this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking any other medication, or have any pre-existing medical conditions.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Orofer XT Drops may have interaction with anticonvulsants (phenytoin), antibiotics (chloramphenicol, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, minocycline), bisphosphonates (alendronate), medicines used to lower high blood pressure (methyldopa), thyroid medicine (levothyroxine), antiparkinsonian agent (levodopa).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid intake of dairy products, coffee or tea with Orofer XT Drops at the same time as they may reduce the absorption of Orofer XT Drops.

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have a stomach ulcer, kidney problems, metabolic disorders, or intestinal or stomach problems, inform your doctor before taking Orofer XT Drops.

How does the drug interact with Orofer XT Drops 15 ml:
Taking dolutegravir with Orofer XT Drops 15 ml can reduce the effectiveness of dolutegravir.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Orofer XT Drops 15 ml and Dolutegravir, you can use these medicines together if prescribed by a doctor. It is advised to take dolutegravir either two hours before or six hours after taking a dose of Orofer XT Drops 15 ml. Do not discontinue using any medications without consulting a doctor.

There could be a possible interaction between Mycophenolic acid and Orofer XT Drops 15 ml, but they can be taken together if a doctor has prescribed them. However, if you experience upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation sleep problems, fatigue, headache, painful urination, high blood pressure, or swelling of the lower legs, ankles, or feet, joint pain, cough, or shortness of breath consult a doctor. Do not discontinue any medications without a doctor's advice.
