Gest-300 SR Tablet is used to treat amenorrhoea (absence of menstrual periods) and prevent endometrial hyperplasia (thickened uterus lining). Also, it is indicated for the maintenance of pregnancy, threatened abortion and prevention of preterm labour. It contains progesterone which works by replacing oestrogen and progesterone hormone levels in the body. This medicine may sometimes cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, headache, mood changes, diarrhoea, vaginal discharge, joint pain, hot flashes or constipation. Inform the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking any other medication, or have any pre-existing medical conditions.

Chest Pain

Chest pain may last for a while and needs immediate medical attention as it is a significant health issue to be attended to.
Take rest and refrain from doing physical activity for a while, and restart after a few days.
Try applying an ice pack to the strained area for at least 20 minutes thrice a day. Ice pack thus helps reduce inflammation.
Sit upright and maintain proper posture if there is persistent chest pain. • Use extra pillows to elevate your position and prop your chest up while sleeping.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Gest-300 SR Tablet may interact with anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital), anti-tuberculosis drugs (rifabutin, rifampicin), anti-HIV drugs (ritonavir, nevirapine, nelfinavir, efavirenz), benzodiazepine (diazepam), water tablet (spironolactone), immunosuppressant (ciclosporin), blood thinners (phenindione), skeletal muscle relaxants (tizanidine), antifungals (terbinafine, ketoconazole, griseofulvin).

Drug-Food Interaction: Gest-300 SR Tablet may interact with St. Jonh’s wort (herbal supplement to treat depression).

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Gest-300 SR Tablet if you have breast cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding, blood clots or blood clotting disorder, liver disease, porphyria (a disorder in the formation of red blood pigment), or cerebral hemorrhage (bleeding in the brain). If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, migraine or severe headaches, gallstones, asthma, fits, systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease), or if you ever had depression, inform your doctor before taking Gest-300 SR Tablet .

How does the drug interact with Gest-300 SR Tablet:
Co-administration of Gest-300 SR Tablet with Venetoclax may increase the blood levels of Venetoclax which increases the risk of side effects.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Gest-300 SR Tablet and Venetoclax together can result in an interaction, it can be taken if a doctor has prescribed it. However, if you experience any symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and infections, it is advised to consult a doctor. Without consulting a doctor, never stop taking any drugs.

When Gest-300 SR Tablet is taken with Edoxaban, may increase the blood levels of Edoxaban which increases the risk of serious bleeding complications.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Gest-300 SR Tablet and edoxaban together can result in an interaction, it can be taken if a doctor has prescribed it. However, if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, dizziness, lightheadedness, red or black, tarry stools, coughing up or vomiting fresh or dried blood that resembles coffee grounds, severe headache, and weakness, you should consult a doctor. Do not discontinue any medications without a doctor's advice.

However, if you experience any symptoms like trouble breathing, feeling tired, or having a cough, dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, impaired judgment, reaction speed, and motor coordination, make sure to contact a doctor immediately.
