Mahacort DZ Suspension is used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy in children above 2 years of age. It contains deflazacort, which inhibits the production of chemicals called cytokines responsible for inflammation. Some children may experience side effects such as nausea, chest pain, vomiting, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, skin rash, tremors, nervousness, diarrhoea, and fast heartbeats. Before giving this medicine, tell your doctor if your child is allergic to any of its components.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Mahacort DZ Suspension interacts with anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB) drugs (rifampicin, rifabutin), anti-seizure (phenobarbitone, phenytoin, pyrimidine) and antifungal drugs (ketoconazole).

Drug-Food interactions: It is not advised to be given with grapefruit or its juice.

Drug-Disease interactions: Care should be exercised when Mahacort DZ Suspension is administered in children with diabetes, cataracts, thyroid, blood pressure, kidney diseases, glaucoma, and herpes.
