Hi doctor, I have been dealing with facial/perioral dermatitis for around 2 years now. Earlier, I was prescribed anti-allergy medication, vitamins, Chaptex lip balm, and tacrolimus ointment. The condition usually improves with treatment but keeps recurring after some time. Right now, I am having a flare-up where the area around my mouth, especially above the lips, has become very dry, red, and irritated. There are visible red lines, and when I apply lip balm (Chaptex), a clear fluid (water-like) starts oozing out. By morning, it dries and leads to flaking and peeling. I also experience burning or stinging when applying tacrolimus, so I have stopped using it for now. Currently, the skin feels very sensitive, dry, and inflamed. Could you please guide me on: 1. What treatment I should follow right now for this flare 2. Whether I should restart tacrolimus or avoid it 3. If this could be contact dermatitis or something else 4. Suitable moisturizer/lip care for my condition Thank you.
