About Mupimet Ointment

Mupimet Ointment belongs to a class of medicines called topical antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial skin infections, which are commonly caused by bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Bacterial skin infections occur when harmful bacteria enter through small cuts, scratches, or damaged skin and multiply, leading to redness, swelling, pain, pus formation, or sores. Mupimet Ointment contains Mupirocin, which works by preventing bacteria from producing essential proteins they need to grow and survive. By blocking this protein production, the medicine helps kill the bacteria causing the infection and clears the skin infection. It is also active against certain other bacteria, including some Gram-negative organisms.

Mupimet Ointment should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is for external use only and should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area using clean cotton wool or a gauze swab. Wash your hands before and after application. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, and mouth; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
