Derobin Ointment is used to treat skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It helps to reduce swelling, itching, and redness and remove dead skin cells. It works by slowing down the production of skin cells. Also, it breaks down a protein known as keratin (that forms part of skin structure) which removes dead skin cell, peel dead cells of the skin, and softens skin. Some people may experience skin irritation or staining of the skin. Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions. Avoid contact of this medicine with normal skin, nose, mouth, eyes, skin folds, or genitals. In case, it comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.

I have been suffering from ringworm (fungal infection) for 3-4 weeks. I applied Derobin cream on the affected area. What should I do next?

Derobin cream is not suitable for ringworm, as it contains strong steroid-based ingredients that can worsen fungal infections and make them spread, so you should stop using it immediately. The correct treatment is to use a proper antifungal cream such as clotrimazole, ketoconazole, or terbinafine applied twice daily for at least 2-4 weeks and continued for 1-2 weeks after the rash clears. Keep the area clean and dry, avoid scratching, wear loose cotton clothing, and do not share towels or clothes to prevent the spread. If the infection is not improving or is spreading, you may need oral antifungal medication prescribed by a doctor.
