Alex Plus Syrup is used to treat dry cough and related allergy symptoms. The detailed uses of Alex Plus Syrup are as follows:

• Dry cough: Alex Plus Syrup lowers the cough reflex and reduces irritation caused by a non-productive cough.
• Sneezing and runny nose: Alex Plus Syrup reduces allergy symptoms by blocking histamine, the chemical responsible for allergic reactions.
• Throat irritation and watery eyes: Alex Plus Syrup soothes throat discomfort and allergy-related eye symptoms.
• Nasal congestion: Alex Plus Syrup reduces swelling in the nasal passages to improve airflow.
• Mucus clearance: Alex Plus Syrup thins mucus, helping it move out of the airways more easily.

Alex Plus Syrup is a combination of four drugs, namely: Guaifenesin, Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine, and Chlorpheniramine. Guaifenesin belongs to the class of expectorants that works by increasing the volume of fluid in the airways, reducing the stickiness of mucus, and helping to remove it from the airways. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that blocks the transmission of nerve signals from the cough center in the brain to the muscles that produce cough. Thus, it decreases the need to cough. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by contracting and narrowing the blood vessels. Thereby, providing relief from congestion and decreasing mucus production. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (anti-allergic drug) that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions, and provides relief from symptoms of allergy such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, and congestion or stiffness.

• Alex Plus Syrup can be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
• Measure the prescribed dose of Alex Plus Syrup using a measuring spoon or cup and take it by mouth.
• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Avoid dairy products such as milk as they may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods to have relief from cough. Instead replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, French fries, sugary desserts and chips with green leafy vegetables.
• Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dry throat while you have a cough and loosen mucus.
• Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough. Eat fruits rich in water content such as pears, watermelon, peaches and pineapples.

If you are allergic to Alex Plus Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using Alex Plus Syrup. Alex Plus Syrup is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. If you are about to undergo any medical tests or surgery, please inform your doctor that you are taking Alex Plus Syrup. Avoid using Alex Plus Syrup if you have taken medicines such as linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, rasagiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine, and methylene blue injection in the past 14 days. If you have high blood pressure, fits, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), chronic bronchitis, asthma, cough with mucus, cough caused by smoking, chronic bronchitis or emphysema (a lung condition causing shortness of breath), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), blockage in stomach or intestines, phenylketonuria (a birth defect that causes accumulation of amino acid, phenylalanine in the body), enlarged prostate, pheochromocytoma (tumor in the adrenal glands), kidney, liver, heart or urinary problems, inform your doctor before taking Alex Plus Syrup.
