About Amantex Tablet

Amantex Tablet contains a class of medication called dopamine agonists used to treat Parkinson's disease symptoms. It plays a vital role in treating symptoms such as difficulty moving, muscle stiffness, and tremors. Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disorder that causes movement, muscle control, balance, and other similar conditions.  In addition to this, it also prevents symptoms of influenza (a viral infection).

Amantex Tablet contains amantadine (dopamine agonist), which is an anti-Parkinson's drug. It helps treat Parkinson's disease by increasing dopamine (a chemical) level in the brain, responsible for improving body movement coordination. Thus, it effectively helps in performing daily functions in a better way and improving quality of life.

In some cases, Amantex Tablet may cause side effects like dry mouth, constipation, balance disorder (loss of balance), blurred vision, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), and peripheral oedema. Most of these side effects of Amantex Tablet are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Do not take Amantex Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components, have severe liver or kidney problems, or have epilepsy.   • Acknowledge your experience and put effort to control hallucinations. You can share what is being seen with a therapist to know whether they are real or imaginary.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol intake as it can worsen the condition and increase your imagination.
  • Practice meditation and yoga to avoid anxiety, which can be one of the leading causes of hallucinations.
  • Talk to your dietician and consume food that can improve your mental health.
Here are the steps to Dry Mouth (xerostomia) caused by medication:
  • Inform your doctor about dry mouth symptoms. They may adjust your medication regimen or prescribe additional medications to manage symptoms.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth moist and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Chew sugar-free gum or candies to increase saliva production and keep your mouth moisturized.
  • Use saliva substitutes, such as mouthwashes or sprays, only if your doctor advises them to help moisturize your mouth and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Avoid consuming smoking, alcohol, spicy or acidic foods, and other irritants that may aggravate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups to keep track of your oral health and handle any dry mouth issues as they arise.
Here are the steps to cope with constipation as a side effect of medication:
  • Inform your doctor about your constipation symptoms. They may adjust your medication or advise alternative treatments.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking sufficient of water (at least 8-10 glasses a day) to help soften stool and promote bowel movements.
  • Increase fibre intake by eating foods high in fibre, such as fruits, whole grains, vegetables and legumes, to help bulk up the stool.
  • Establish a bowel routine by trying to go to the bathroom at the same time each day to train your bowels.
  • Engaging in regular exercise, like walking or yoga, can support in bowel movement stimulation.
  • Consult your doctor if constipation persists, and discuss alternative treatments or adjustments to your medication.

What if I have taken an overdose of Amantex Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Amantex Tablet as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include difficulty breathing, decreased urination, irregular or fast heartbeat, confusion, problems with coordination, stiff or rigid arms/legs, hallucinations and fear/irritability/aggressive behaviour. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Amantex Tablet if you are allergic to amantadine or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor about all other OTC medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or are planning to take. If you have kidney or liver disease, mental illness, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye can lead to a gradual loss of vision), epilepsy, a sleep disorder, eczema (dry, itchy skin with red, scaly rashes), urinary tract infections, heart failure, hypotension (low blood pressure), or if you drink or have ever consumed large amounts of alcohol, Amantex Tablet should be taken with caution and only if a doctor prescribes you. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding before starting Amantex Tablet as a dose adjustment may be required if the benefits outweigh the risks. Amantex Tablet may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position, especially when you start taking Amantex Tablet so please get up gradually. Also, do not take any live vaccination for at least 48 hours after the last dose of Amantex Tablet . Avoid dairy products as it may cause disease progression, and take some calcium supplements to avoid their deficiency.
