About Amisant 200 Tablet

Amisant 200 Tablet is primarily used to treat long-term (chronic) schizophrenia. In schizophrenic disorders, there are positive symptoms (like delusions, hallucinations and thought disorders) along with negative symptoms (like blunted affect, emotional and social withdrawal).

Amisant 200 Tablet contains amisulpride, which helps balance dopamine activity in the brain. It improves thinking, mood, and behaviour while reducing abnormal mental symptoms. It also supports better emotional and social functioning. This helps maintain mental stability and daily well-being.

Take Amisant 200 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, increased appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, blurred vision, insomnia (trouble sleeping), anxiety, or agitation (feeling restless or uneasy). If you have been stable for many years, it is understandable to consider stopping the medication. However, schizophrenia often needs long-term treatment to prevent relapse. Stopping Amisant, even gradually, can increase the risk of symptoms returning. Do not reduce or stop it on your own and discuss carefully with your doctor before making any change.

The time required for Amisant 200 Tablet to start to work: Amisant 200 Tablet ideally starts to show its action within 1 to 2 hours of administration.
The time for which the effects of Amisant 200 Tablet last: Amisant 200 Tablet effect lasts for 24 hours.

What if you forget to take Amisant 200 Tablet

If you miss a dose of Amisant 200 Tablet , take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.• Keep Amisant 200 Tablet out of the sight and reach of children. • Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.

Do not take Amisant 200 Tablet if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to amisulpride or any other ingredients present in this medicine or have a medical history of prolactin-dependent tumour or breast cancer, phaeochromocytoma (a tumour on the adrenal gland), or pituitary tumour.
Amisant 200 Tablet should not be given to children as safety has not been established.
Use Amisant 200 Tablet with extreme caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age, as there is an increased risk of severe adverse effects.
Amisant 200 Tablet should not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Amisant 200 Tablet may impair fertility, so inform your doctor if you are planning a pregnancy.
Inform your doctor if you are previously diagnosed with kidney disease, liver disease epilepsy or seizures (fits), Parkinson's disease, unusual heart rate (rhythm), slow heartbeat (less than 55 beats per minute), low potassium levels in your blood, prolonged QT interval (heart conduction problem), if you or someone else in your family has a history of blood clots, heart problems, stroke, diabetes, have a low number of white blood cells (agranulocytosis), leucopenia (blood disorder).
Amisant 200 Tablet may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Amisant 200 Tablet as it could lead to increased drowsiness and dizziness.
