Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule belongs to a class of drugs called 'antacids' used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is characterized by the formation of tumours in the upper part of the small intestine, which leads to excess acid production.

Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule is a combination of two medicines, namely: 'Domperidone' and 'Lansoprazole'. Domperidone increases food movement in the stomach, which helps avoid the problems related to indigestion, bloating, and fullness. This medicine also restricts the action of a chemical that is responsible for the feeling of vomiting and nausea. On the other side, Lansoprazole works by blocking the action of proton pumps that are involved in producing stomach acid. Thereby, Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach and prevents excess acid from flowing back into the food pipe. Thus, both medicines in combination provide relief from heartburn symptoms related to acid reflux.

Take Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, or constipation in some cases. Most of these side effects of Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Drug Warnings

Inform your doctor if you have any risk factors for reduced vitamin B12 as Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule may reduce the absorption of vitamin B12. Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule may cause low levels of magnesium in the blood if taken for more than 3 months. If you experience involuntary muscle contractions, tiredness fits, increased heart rate or dizziness while taking Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule , please consult a doctor immediately as these might be signs of low magnesium levels. However, regular blood tests are recommended to monitor magnesium levels in the blood while taking Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule .

You are not recommended to take Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule with antifungals such as ketoconazole or itraconazole as it may reduce the effectiveness of antifungal against fungal infections. However, please consult your doctor before taking Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule with other medicines.

Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule should be used with caution in osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones) patients as it may worsen the condition especially if Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule is taken for more than 1 year as it increases the risk of fracture of the spine, hip or wrist. Therefore, inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or take any steroids which may increase the risk of osteoporosis.

It is best to take whole grains food like brown rice, green vegetables, sweet potatoes, and carrots to reduce acidity.

Taking Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule for longer than the duration recommended by your doctor may increase the risk of side effects. Prolonged use of Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule may lead to heart-related issues due to domperidone. If taken for over a year, it may also result in hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels), vitamin B12 deficiencies, bone fractures, and gut infections due to lansoprazole. Therefore, it is important to regularly monitor your health to determine whether you should continue taking Ans-Acid-Dm Capsule . Always follow your doctor's advice and discuss any concerns about long-term use with them.
