Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's belongs to the class of medicines known as 'diuretic drugs or water pills', used with other diuretics to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and oedema (fluid overload). Hypertension is a medical condition in which the blood exerts high pressure (force exerted by circulating blood) against blood vessel's walls. Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's is used alone or in combination with other antidiuretic medicines for treating the condition.

Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's contains Amiloride, which belongs to the class of potassium-sparing diuretics. It works by blocking sodium-potassium exchange in the distal tubule of the nephron (functional unit of the kidney).

Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's may cause certain side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, glucose intolerance, weakness, muscle cramps, electrolyte imbalance, and increased uric acid levels in the blood. Most of these side effects of Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's do not require medical attention. Take Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's as prescribed by your doctor.

• High blood pressure:Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) by helping the body remove excess sodium and water through urine while retaining potassium. This reduction in fluid helps to lower blood pressure and reduce strain on the heart and blood vessels.
• Congestive heart failure: Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's is used to manage congestive heart failure by relieving symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling. It does this by reducing fluid accumulation in the lungs and other parts of the body, which eases the workload on the heart. Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's is used to treat edema, or fluid retention, that can occur due to liver cirrhosis, kidney disorders, or heart conditions. By promoting diuresis (increased urine production) without depleting potassium levels, it helps reduce swelling in the legs, ankles, or abdomen.
• Hypokalemia:Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's is used to treat and prevent hypokalemia (low levels of potassium in the blood), especially in patients taking other diuretics that cause potassium loss. It helps maintain the proper balance of electrolytes in the body, which is essential for nerve function and muscle contraction.

• Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's should be taken with meals.
• It is usually taken once a day, or as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not break, chew or crush Azilow 5 mg Tablet 10's.
