Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart-related chest pain (angina), irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), and to protect the heart after a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Besides this, it may also help in relieving symptoms of migraine-related headache and tremors (fits). It contains Metoprolol, which helps in slowing down the heart rate, making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body. This lowers the blood pressure and helps in reducing the risk of having a stroke, heart attack, or other heart or kidney problems in the future. In some cases, it may cause certain common side effects like dizziness, tiredness, diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and headache. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

About Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet

Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), heart-related chest pain (angina), and irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia). Hypertension is a lifelong or chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes so high that it leads to heart disease.

Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet contains 'Metoprolol', which helps in slowing down the heart rate, making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body. 

Not everyone who is taking Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet will get these side effects. In some cases, Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet may cause certain common side effects like dizziness, tiredness, diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

You can take Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet with food or without food. It should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, crush, or break it. Your doctor will advise you on how often you should take your tablets based on your medical condition. It is always important to complete your treatment course for better results.

  • Treatment of Hypertension: Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet controls high blood pressure by reducing the heart rate and the force of contraction, thereby lowering blood pressure.<br/> 
  • Prevention of Heart-related Chest Pain: Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet prevents chest pain (angina) by reducing the workload on the heart and improving blood flow to the heart muscle.<br/>
  • Control of Abnormal Heart Rhythms: Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet helps manage irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) by slowing the heart rate and stabilizing the heart's rhythm, reducing symptoms and improving heart function.<br/>
  • Management of Heart Attack: Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet is used to manage heart attack (myocardial infarction) by reducing the workload on the heart and preventing further damage.<br/>

Directions for Use

• Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet should be taken with or immediately after a meal for better absorption. • It is usually taken 2-3 times daily at the same time each day or as prescribed by your doctor. • Swallow Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet as a whole with a glass of water. • Do not crush, chew, open, or break it.

What if I have taken an overdose of Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include slow heart rate, difficulty breathing, trembling or dizziness. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet if you are allergic to Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet or any other beta-blockers.
  • Avoid taking Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet if you have/had heart conduction, rhythm problems, uncontrolled/severe heart failure, blocked blood vessels, blood circulation problems, untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, low blood pressure, or prinzmetal angina.
  • Inform your doctor if you have asthma, COPD, diabetes, blood vessel disorder, slow heart rate, pheochromocytoma, myasthenia gravis, dry eye problems, kidney or liver impairment; if you are taking anti-depressants, other blood pressure-lowering medicines, or anti-arrhythmic agents.
  • Consult your doctor before taking Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy have not been established.
  • Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution.
  • Don't stop taking Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet without consulting your doctor. Suddenly stopping the use of Cadmet-XR 25 Tablet may cause changes in your heart rhythm and blood pressure, cause chest pain, or a heart attack. Your doctor will gradually lower your dose to help prevent these symptoms.
