Candistat Capsule is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat, toenails, fingernails or lungs. It contains Itraconazole, which works by killing fungi. About Candistat Capsule

Candistat Capsule is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat, toenails, fingernails or lungs. Fungal infection is a disease in which a fungus attacks the tissue and causes infection. Fungal infections may be contagious (spread from one person to another).

Candistat Capsule contains Itraconazole, an antifungal that works by inhibiting the production of ergosterol (a main component of cell membranes of fungi). Thereby, weakens and damages the fungal cell membranes that are essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents.Thus, it causes the main components of fungal cells to leak out, killing fungi and clearing the fungal infection.

Take Candistat Capsule as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take Candistat Capsule based on your medical condition. Some people may experience nausea, headache, diarrhoea, tiredness, cough, cold, throat pain, back pain and stomach pain. Most of these side effects of Candistat Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Candistat Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Candistat Capsule is a pregnancy category C drug and may cause harm to the unborn baby. However, if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Candistat Capsule. Do not take Candistat Capsule if you have or have heart failure, as it may cause severe life-threatening adverse effects. If you have kidney, liver, heart or lung problems, inform your doctor before taking Candistat Capsule. Avoid taking fentanyl (a strong opioid narcotic medicine) with Candistat Capsule as it may cause severe breathing problems and can even lead to death. If you experience numbness or tingling in your hands or feet, stop taking Candistat Capsule and consult your doctor immediately as they might be symptoms of nerve damage.

Uses of Candistat Capsule

Candistat Capsule is used in the treatment of fungal infections. The detailed uses of Candistat Capsule are as follows:
• Yeast Infection Treatment: Candistat Capsule is commonly used to combat vaginal yeast infections caused by the Candida fungus.
• Fungal Infection Management: Candistat Capsule effectively treats various systemic fungal infections, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems.
• Preventive Care: Doctors may prescribe Candistat Capsule to prevent fungal infections in patients undergoing chemotherapy or those prone to such infections due to immune deficiencies.
• Oral Thrush Treatment: Candistat Capsule is also useful in managing oral candidiasis (thrush), a fungal overgrowth in the mouth caused by Candida.

Directions for Use

Tablet: Take it with food to avoid stomach upset or as advised by the doctor. Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. If you are taking any stomach acid suppressor or have achlorhydria (stomach does not produce hydrochloric acid), take Candistat Capsule with cola.

  • Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or electrolyte-rich beverages, to help your body regulate temperature.
