About Canditas Bgn Ointment

This combination topical skin medication is used to treat mixed skin infections that present with redness, swelling, and itching. It works by targeting bacterial and fungal overgrowth while simultaneously calming localised skin inflammation. It is commonly prescribed for infected eczema, dermatitis, and other inflamed skin conditions where a secondary infection is suspected.

For the best results, apply this medication consistently at the same times every day as directed by your doctor. It is typically applied once or twice daily as a thin layer onto the clean, dry affected skin. Keeping the skin dry and clean, and wearing loose-fitting cotton clothing, will help support your recovery.

While using this medicine, you may notice mild local side effects such as a temporary burning sensation, dryness, or slight redness. These issues are usually mild and resolve on their own as your skin adjusts. However, if you experience severe skin peeling, worsening infection, or signs of an allergic reaction, you should contact your doctor immediately.

Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you have viral skin infections like cold sores, skin tuberculosis, or severely broken skin. You should not use this product if you have a known allergy to any topical steroid, antibacterial, or antifungal agents. It is also generally not recommended for very young children unless a paediatrician specifically advises it.

Avoid applying other topical creams, ointments, or cosmetics to the same skin area at the same time. Leave a gap of at least 30 minutes between different topical products unless your doctor advises otherwise. Because this is a topical treatment, interactions with alcohol or smoking are highly unlikely, though keeping healthy habits supports overall skin health. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or elderly, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.

Uses of Canditas Bgn Ointment

Canditas Bgn Ointment is used to treat mixed skin infections. The detailed uses of Canditas Bgn Ointment are as follows:

  • Inflammatory skin infections: Reduces redness, swelling, and severe itching associated with conditions like eczema or dermatitis when a secondary bacterial or fungal infection is present or suspected.
  • Bacterial skin infections: Clears complicating bacterial overgrowth that can prevent normal skin healing.
  • Fungal skin infections: Eradicates underlying yeast or fungal infections, such as ringworm or sweat rashes, in the affected area.

Key Benefits

Canditas Bgn Ointment helps manage complex skin infections and inflammatory skin conditions by combining ingredients that reduce inflammation while targeting both bacterial and fungal organisms. This multi-action approach helps relieve symptoms and supports effective healing of affected skin.

  • Helps Relieve Itching, Burning, and Skin Irritation: The anti-inflammatory component helps reduce itching, redness, burning, and swelling, providing rapid relief and improving overall comfort.
  • Helps Control Bacterial and Fungal Infections: By targeting a broad range of infection-causing organisms, Canditas Bgn Ointment helps treat the underlying infection and prevents it from spreading to surrounding skin.
  • Supports Faster Skin Healing: By reducing inflammation and controlling infection, Canditas Bgn Ointment promotes restoration of the skin's natural barrier, helping damaged skin recover more effectively and supporting healthier-looking skin.

Directions for Use

Always follow your doctor's exact instructions. For general use, please follow these steps:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the medication, unless your hands are the area being treated.
  • Gently clean and completely dry the affected skin area.
  • Apply a thin film of the cream or ointment to the affected area and rub it in gently.
  • Do not cover the treated area with bandages, tight wraps, or plastic dressings unless specifically told to do so by your doctor, as this can increase medicine absorption and the risk of side effects.

How Canditas Bgn Ointment Works

Canditas Bgn Ointment contains three distinct active components, beclometasone, neomycin and clotrimazole, that work together to restore skin health. The steroid component, beclometasone, reduces swelling and redness. It stops cells from releasing the natural chemical signals that trigger inflammation and intense itching. The antibacterial component, neomycin, stops bacteria from producing the essential proteins they need to grow and multiply, successfully clearing the bacterial infection. The antifungal component, clotrimazole, works by blocking the production of ergosterol, an essential substance that helps maintain the fungal cell membrane. Without enough ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes damaged and unable to function properly, leading to the death of the fungal cells and helping clear the infection.

FAQs

Canditas Bgn Ointment is used to treat various fungal and bacterial skin infections. It treats skin inflammation due to allergies or irritants, eczema (inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough skin patches), psoriasis (skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy red patches covered with white scales), ringworm, athlete's foot (fungal infection between the toes), jock itch (fungal infection in the skin of the genitals, inner thighs and buttocks), candidiasis (yeast infection), insect bites, and stings.

Canditas Bgn Ointment consists of Clotrimazole, Neomycin and Beclometasone. Clotrimazole, an antifungal drug, stops fungi's growth by causing damage and leakage to the fungal cell membrane. Neomycin is an antibiotic and prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Beclometasone, a corticosteroid, works by blocking prostaglandin's production (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy.

Canditas Bgn Ointment is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If Canditas Bgn Ointment gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse with water. Do not put a bandage or a dressing on the affected area while using Canditas Bgn Ointment unless advised by the doctor. Do not apply Canditas Bgn Ointment on sunburns, open wounds, lesions and blisters.

You are required to maintain at least a three-hour gap after application of Canditas Bgn Ointment if you are using more than one topical medicine.

Please do not stop using Canditas Bgn Ointment on your own even if the symptoms are relieved. Your symptoms may improve before the skin infection is completely cured. Continue the usage of Canditas Bgn Ointment until your course advised by the doctor is finished.

Generally, Canditas Bgn Ointment starts working within a few hours. However, its effectiveness depends on the severity of the infection, dose, and frequency of administration. To ensure optimal effectiveness and minimize side effects, follow your doctor's instructions on dosing and treatment duration.

When used as directed by the doctor, Canditas Bgn Ointment is generally safe. However, like all medications, it might cause negative effects and interact with other medications. To reduce your risk, follow your doctor's instructions, report any pre-existing or present medical issues, and share your drug history. Please notify your healthcare practitioner of any allergies or concerns.

Apply a thin layer of cream with clean and dry hands on the skin's affected areas. You can also apply it with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab on the skin. Gently rub the medicine into the skin until it is disappeared. Wash your hands before and after applying the cream on the affected areas unless the treatment is for hands.

Don't take more than the recommended dose of Canditas Bgn Ointment, as overusing it may not provide additional relief and instead increases the risk of adverse effects such as skin thinning, changes in skin colour, excessive hair growth, and secondary infections. Follow your doctor's instructions regarding dose and duration for optimal results without side effects.

Do not use Canditas Bgn Ointment on open wounds, blisters, and lesions. Moreover, Canditas Bgn Ointment is not intended for oral, ophthalmic (eye), or intravaginal use.

Store Canditas Bgn Ointment in its original container, keeping it cool, dry, and out of sunlight. Ensure it is out of the reach of children.

The common side effects of the Canditas Bgn Ointment may include erythema (redness of the skin), stinging, blistering, peeling, pruritus (irritation of the skin causing an urge to scratch), itching, dryness and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, please consult your doctor.

The key components of Canditas Bgn Ointment are Clotrimazole (antifungal), Neomycin (antibiotic) and Beclometasone (steroid).

You should only use Canditas Bgn Ointment on your face if your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so. The skin on your face is delicate, and steroid-containing creams can cause skin thinning or colour changes if used there long-term. Talk to your doctor for advice.

This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if your doctor determines that the benefits outweigh any potential risks. Avoid applying it to large skin areas or using it for a long time. Talk to your doctor to discuss your options.

No, Canditas Bgn Ointment is not recommended for ordinary diaper rash unless prescribed by a paediatrician. The strong ingredients can be absorbed too easily through a baby's thin skin. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for gentle alternatives.

Since this is a topical cream applied directly to the skin, moderate alcohol consumption is unlikely to interact with Canditas Bgn Ointment. However, keeping healthy habits supports your body's natural healing processes. Talk to your doctor if you have further concerns.

No, Canditas Bgn Ointment is not designed to treat viral infections like cold sores, shingles, or chickenpox. Applying a steroid-containing cream to a viral infection can worsen the condition or cause it to spread. Talk to your doctor for an appropriate antiviral treatment.
