About CLINCENT GEL 20GM

CLINCENT GEL 20GM belongs to the class of medication called 'lincosamide antibiotics' primarily used to treat bacterial skin infections like acne (pimples), infections of abdomen, bone, skin, heart and soft tissues. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. CLINCENT GEL 20GM will not work for viral infections, such as common cold and flu.

CLINCENT GEL 20GM contains 'Clindamycin' that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which stops bacterial growth. It shows a bacteriostatic effect, which prevents the multiplication of bacteria but doesn't kill them. CLINCENT GEL 20GM effectively treats infections caused by gram-positive and anaerobic (living without air) bacteria, including susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Clostridium perfringens. CLINCENT GEL 20GM treats serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria in the abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, lower respiratory tract, on the skin, and in the genitourinary area.

CLINCENT GEL 20GM is available in the form of oral, topical, intravenous, and intramuscular formulations. The oral forms of CLINCENT GEL 20GM include capsule and powder for solution. Swallow the capsule as a whole with a glass of water with or without food. Do not chew, crush or break it. Topical forms of CLINCENT GEL 20GM include gel, cream, and lotion. Intravenous and intramuscular forms of CLINCENT GEL 20GM are injected into the body with the help of a syringe. Like all medicines, CLINCENT GEL 20GM also causes side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects of CLINCENT GEL 20GM include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, joint pain/swelling, dark urine, and abnormal liver function tests.

The injection form of CLINCENT GEL 20GM may sometimes contain benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which can cross the placenta in pregnant and cause gasping syndrome (multi-organ failure) in the paediatric patients. Hence, CLINCENT GEL 20GM should be used only with doctor's advice during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sometimes, antibiotic medications can cause antibiotic resistance. In such cases, your doctor may prescribe other antibiotics, you are not resistant to.
