Psoriasis is a skin disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.

Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm is composed of two medicines: Halobetasol propionate (corticosteroid) and Salicylic acid (peeling agent). Halobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together.

Your doctor will advise the appropriate use of Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm that suits your infection. Common side effects of Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm include itching, dryness, and a burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm is used in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis. The detailed uses of Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm are as follows:

• Treatment of Eczema (Atopic dermatitis): Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm helps relieve inflammation, itching, and redness caused by eczema by blocking the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers).
• Treatment of Psoriasis: Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm effectively reduces scaling, redness, itching, and thickening of the skin caused by psoriasis by softening and removing the dead skin cells from the affected areas.

• Generally, it should be used once or twice a day. However, for best results, follow your doctor's guidance regarding the dosage and timing.
• Apply a thin layer with clean and dry hands on the skin's affected areas. You can also apply it with a piece of clean cotton wool or a gauze swab. Gently rub the medicine into the skin.
• Wash your hands before and after applying Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm on the affected areas unless the treatment is for the hands.

Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm is for topical (for skin) use only. Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm is not recommended for use in diaper rash. Inform your doctor beforehand if you have blood circulation problems, active skin infections, and chickenpox. Prolonged use of steroid-containing medicines leads to skin sensitization and the development of resistant organisms. Do not cover the affected areas with occlusive dressings while using Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm. Avoid applying Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm on sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds. Topical usage of corticosteroids like Halobetasol propionate in pregnant women should be used with caution under a doctor's supervision. Let your doctor know if you are a lactating mother before using Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm. If you apply Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm to breasts or nipples for treatment, wash it off while nursing your baby. Do not go near naked flames since the fabric that comes in contact with Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm may burn easily. Washing the fabric may decrease the risk, but it does not remove the product completely. Do not store Cortinix-S Ointment 30 gm above 25°C.
