About Depogen 150mg Injection

Depogen 150mg Injection is used as a long-acting contraceptive. It is also used in the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding and the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of the uterine or womb lining) in women who take conjugated estrogen.

Depogen 150mg Injection contains medroxyprogesterone acetate, which prevents an egg from fully maturing and being discharged from the ovaries. If an egg is not released, it cannot be fertilised by sperm and result in pregnancy.

Depogen 150mg Injection is administered by a doctor. In some cases, you may have nervousness, headache, stomach pain or discomfort, weight increase or decrease, reduced sex drive, dizziness, and feelings of sickness and depression. If the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have or have had migraine headaches, diabetes, liver or kidney disorders, osteoporosis, asthma, or epilepsy. And also inform your doctor if you are pregnant, expecting a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Uses of Depogen 150mg Injection

Depogen 150mg Injection is used in the treatment of contraception, amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding, in the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of the uterine or womb lining). The detailed uses of Depogen 150mg Injection are as follows:

  • Prevent pregnancy: Depogen 150mg Injection is primarily used as a long-acting contraceptive. A single intramuscular injection protects against pregnancy for up to 3 months by suppressing ovulation and altering the uterine lining.
  • Treat abnormal uterine bleeding: Depogen 150mg Injection stabilises the endometrial lining and regulates menstrual cycles, making it effective in controlling heavy or irregular bleeding.
  • Address amenorrhea (absence of menstruation): Depogen 150mg Injection is used to induce menstrual periods in individuals experiencing secondary amenorrhea due to hormonal imbalance.
