About Dibet N Cream

Dibet N Cream is a topical medication prescribed to treat a variety of inflammatory skin conditions that have also developed a bacterial infection, or are highly likely to get infected. It works by reducing swelling, redness, and severe itching while simultaneously killing the bacteria causing the infection. It is commonly prescribed for conditions like infected eczema, dermatitis, and severe insect bites.

You should apply Dibet N Cream consistently at the same times every day as directed by your healthcare provider to achieve the best results. Since this is a topical cream, it is applied directly to the skin and does not interact with food, though you should ensure the area is clean and dry before use. Along with this treatment, keeping your skin well-hydrated with gentle moisturisers and wearing loose-fitting clothes can help support your skin's recovery.

While using Dibet N Cream, you may experience mild, temporary skin irritation or dryness at the application site. These symptoms are usually harmless, but you must contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe burning, skin thinning, or signs of an allergic reaction like swelling or hives.

Do not take this if you have untreated viral infections (such as chickenpox or cold sores), fungal infections, or tuberculosis of the skin, as this medication can make those conditions worse. Talk to your doctor before starting Dibet N Cream if you have large areas of broken skin, skin ulcers, or a history of allergic reactions to topical products.

Although interactions with swallowed medicines are rare, you should inform your doctor if you are using other skin ointments. Heavy alcohol consumption and smoking may slow skin healing and can affect your overall recovery. It is highly recommended that pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and elderly patients consult their healthcare provider before using this medicine to ensure it is safe for them.

Uses of Dibet N Cream

Your doctor may prescribe Dibet N Cream for several inflammatory and infected skin issues, including:

  • Infected eczema: Dibet N Cream helps calm intense itching, swelling, and redness while clearing the bacterial infection that often occurs from scratching.
  • Infected dermatitis: It relieves severe allergic skin reactions and contact dermatitis that have become complicated by bacterial growth.
  • Psoriasis with secondary infection: In selected cases, a doctor may prescribe Dibet N Cream for short-term management of bacterial infection occurring alongside inflamed psoriasis lesions. It should only be used under medical supervision, as topical steroids and antibiotics are not appropriate for all types of psoriasis.
  • Infected insect bites: It minimises the body's local inflammatory response and treats bacteria introduced through the bite.

Key Benefits

Dibet N Cream offers targeted, real-world relief to help your skin heal faster and more comfortably:

  • Dual-Action Relief: By combining an anti-inflammatory agent with a bacterial killer, this medicine addresses the swelling and the underlying infection at the same time, preventing the need for multiple separate treatments.
  • Rapid Comfort: The soothing properties of the medication work quickly to stop intense itching and burning. This brings immediate relief and prevents the urge to scratch, which can further damage the skin.
  • Supports Natural Healing: By eliminating harmful bacteria and reducing inflammation, Dibet N Cream creates the ideal environment for your skin barrier to repair itself naturally, leading to a faster recovery.

Directions for Use

  • Dibet N Cream is for external use only.
  • It is recommended to apply Dibet N Cream 2-3 times daily or as directed by your doctor.
  • Apply a thin layer of Dibet N Cream with clean and dry hands on the affected areas of the skin. You can also apply it with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Gently rub the medicine into the skin until it has disappeared.
  • Wash your hands before and after applying Dibet N Cream on the affected areas unless the treatment is for hands.
  • If Dibet N Cream accidentally comes in contact with your eyes, mouth, or nose, rinse with water thoroughly.

How Dibet N Cream Works

Dibet N Cream contains betamethasone and neomycin, which work together to treat inflammatory skin conditions that are complicated by bacterial infection. Betamethasone is a potent topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the skin. It works by blocking the release of inflammatory chemical messengers that cause blood vessels to widen and trigger redness, swelling, itching, and irritation. This helps quickly calm down localised skin inflammation and discomfort. Neomycin is an antibiotic that acts against bacteria responsible for skin infections. It works by entering bacterial cells and interfering with their ability to produce essential proteins. This disrupts bacterial growth and leads to the elimination of the infection-causing organisms. Together, these actions help reduce inflammation, control bacterial infection, and relieve symptoms such as redness, swelling, itching, and irritation, allowing the skin to heal more effectively.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

Supporting your skin's health from the inside out can help Dibet N Cream work more effectively and speed up your recovery:

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and help maintain its natural moisture barrier.
  • Keep nails short: Keep your fingernails trimmed short and clean to prevent scratching and reduce the risk of introducing new bacteria to the healing skin.
  • Choose loose clothing: Wear loose, breathable cotton clothing over the treated areas to minimise friction, heat, and sweat buildup, which can irritate sensitive skin.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Switch to mild, fragrance-free soaps, cleansers, and moisturisers to prevent stripping your skin of its natural protective oils.
  • Manage stress: High stress levels can trigger flare-ups of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, so practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or yoga.

Storage

•Store Dibet N Cream at room temperature, strictly between 15°C and 25°C (59°F to 77°F). •Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use to prevent the cream from drying out or becoming contaminated.

Drug Warnings

  • Sensitive Areas: Do not apply Dibet N Cream to your face, groin, or underarms unless your doctor explicitly tells you to, as these areas have very thin skin that absorbs the medicine too quickly.
  • Avoid Eye Contact: Avoid getting the cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with large amounts of cool water.

  • Check Before Use: Inspect the cream before use; do not use it if the tube is damaged, leaking, or if the cream has changed colour or consistency.
  • Avoid Certain Wounds: Do not apply this medicine to large open wounds, deep cuts, or severely burned skin without medical clearance.
  • Stopping Treatment: If you are using this medicine for psoriasis, do not stop treatment abruptly unless advised by your doctor, as topical steroids may occasionally trigger rebound worsening of psoriasis symptoms after discontinuation.

Drug-Drug Interactions

The following medications may affect the safety or effectiveness of this medicine:

  • Using other topical steroid creams, ointments, or medicated cosmetics on the same area of skin can increase the risk of skin thinning and other side effects. Always leave a gap of at least a few hours between applying different skin products.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking other oral antibiotics, as combining certain types can increase the risk of systemic side effects if the topical medicine is heavily absorbed.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Some medical conditions may affect the safety or effectiveness of this medicine, including:

  • Viral or fungal skin infections: Do not take this if you have skin conditions caused by viruses (like herpes or chickenpox) or fungi (like athlete's foot), as the steroid in this medicine can weaken your skin's defense and make these infections worse.

FAQs

Dibet N Cream is a dermatological medicine used to treat various bacterial skin infections.
Dibet N Cream consists of Neomycin and Betamethasone. Neomycin prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Betamethasone works by blocking prostaglandins production (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy.
Dibet N Cream is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If Dibet N Cream gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse with water. Do not put a bandage or a dressing on the affected area while using Dibet N Cream unless advised by the doctor. Do not apply Dibet N Cream on sunburns, open wounds, lesions and blisters.
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Dibet N Cream based on the severity of your infection. It is advised to use Dibet N Cream only for the prescribed period since long-term usage of Dibet N Cream may cause increased hair growth and weakening and thinning of the skin.
Dibet N Cream is not recommended for use in diaper rash. Please use Dibet N Cream under medical guidance if you have pituitary gland diseases, dehydration problems, chronic leg ulcers, cataract or glaucoma, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, hearing problems (ototoxicity), osteoporosis, muscle weakness, liver/kidney diseases, and Cushing's disease (high cortisol levels).
Dibet N Cream is not recommended for use in acne treatment. It is also advised not to use Dibet N Cream for a rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), viral skin infections, itching of genital and anal skin, yeast infections, and rosacea (small, red, pus-filled bumps on the face). Please seek a doctor's advice if you have any of these conditions.
Dibet N Cream should be used with other topical medicines only if advised by the doctor. However, you are advised to maintain at least a three-hour gap between Dibet N Cream and other topical medicine.
You should not apply Dibet N Cream to your face unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so. Facial skin is very thin and sensitive, which increases the risk of side effects like skin thinning and color changes.
Do not cover the treated area with a bandage, dressing, or wrap unless your doctor explicitly tells you to. Covering the area can significantly increase the absorption of the medication, which may cause serious systemic side effects.
If your skin condition does not begin to improve, or if it gets worse after a few days of consistent use, stop using the medication and consult your healthcare provider. You may need a different treatment.
No, you should not use Dibet N Cream to treat diaper rash in infants. The skin in the diaper area is highly sensitive, and wrapping a diaper over the cream acts like an airtight bandage, which can cause dangerous amounts of the medicine to absorb into the baby's bloodstream.
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you should consult your doctor before using Dibet N Cream. They will assess whether the benefits outweigh any potential risks to your developing baby.
No, Dibet N Cream is not designed to treat fungal infections. The steroid component in this medicine can actually make a fungal infection worse by lowering your skin's local immunity.
It is best to avoid applying makeup, cosmetics, or other skin products directly over the areas treated with Dibet N Cream. Doing so can irritate the skin further or interfere with how the medication absorbs. If you must use other products, apply them at a different time of day.
